I was treated to a birthday dinner here. This has become of of my favorite Italian restaurants. I ordered the Linguini Cardinale. It was amazingly good. The portions were so large, I had enough for lunch and dinner the next day. Be sure to make a reservation and bring your appetite.

Pasta! Pasta! Pasta! Filomena is an iconic DC restaurant where you can have sightings of local and nationally known people. They come because the food is so good! You'll have to walk down a flight of stairs to get to this restaurant, and it's a bit crowded, but the food is worth it! Enjoy a dish or share with a friend--you can't go wrong with any item. Once you've tried a few options after a few visits, open yourself to try their feature/special items. Complimentary Amaretto and Sambuca are served after every meal as digestifs. The wait can be pretty lengthy so make a reservation a few days in advance.

Like the food, but went more for the experience. Had always gone in winter and had fantastic service. Had fantastic brunch there this past spring. Went for the first time in summer for my birthday dinner and had the worst service ever--waiter was rude, pushy, forgetful, bad attitude--all of the above. My theory is it's something to do with it being tourist season, but that's not a good excuse. Really disappointed.

Loved the interior-- model little kitchen to look at and well-decorated. I couldn't decide if it was crowded or cozy. Excellent service. Fabulous desserts (tres-leche cake=amazing). Food is very, very rich and heavy. Portions are large. Prepare to pay $26 per plate. Plan to make reservations when you come and dress nice. You will feel like a hobo in jeans.

I've visited here only for the Lunch Buffet so far - and its pretty good! The options were plentiful, but it can be hard to execute a good buffet. I will say that I was not particularly blown away by the food, and I have had meals at other Italian venues that I felt had more flavor. To be fair - I have yet to come for dinner. Stay on the look out for an update after I give it a more fair chance.

Went here for this year's restaurant week, and loved the place. We got a nice table in the back of the restaurant and really enjoyed the food they had selected for RestWeek. Make sure you order from the cocktail menu, we had the cucumber gin one and it was ah-mazing. Would love to go back and sit in the outdoor seating area.

Got it--Bill Clinton was a regular back in the 90s, and they have pics with all the DC celebs and pols, but the gargantuan portions make this seem a bit industrial...come with at least 6 people to be able to share and not walk out of here feeling disgusting. The complementary amaretto and sambucca is a nice touch though--hang out for a bit and enjoy a drink on the house while you digest a months worth of carbs.
