Wow, working at +Google seems to inspire people a lot. Either they stayed for a looking time or they left to found new businesses, most of them widely known and successful.

Interesting.

We’re excited to announce that Web Lab, a series of five Chrome Experiment installations that bring the magic of the web to life, is now live in beta.

Open to the world at http://www.chromeweblab.com and live from the Science Museum, London, over the course of this year-long exhibition, you’ll be able to interact with the experiments in-person or through the interactive HTML5 website.

Come explore Web Lab, and share your feedback to help us make the online and museum experience even better during this initial beta.

Long live custom libraries :-\

Maybe we should get better native support instead. Or at least a closer relationship with third party developers implementing 'system' functionality.

PSA: Use the latest version of ActionBarSherlock

If you're using +ActionBarSherlock in your app then make sure that you've updated to the latest version else your app will crash on Jelly Bean.

ActionBarSherlock is an extension of the compatibility library designed to facilitate the use of the action bar design pattern across all versions of Android leveraging the best API available.

Nah, this was a case where ABS used a hack in dalvik to access a otherwise inaccessible method in the support library. Yes, it was nifty, but a bad thing to do as a library. The support library was since then updated and ABS was too. In JB they fixed the dalvik bug which allowed the hack to work.
So the lesson here is mostly: don't use ugly hacks, they will break.

Btw, at this point, I don't really see the point of Google putting their resources into a new ActionBar library (in AppCompat) since ABS is already such a great library.

Becoming a monopolist is a coincidence, nothing evil. But you're right, making use of that is not that smart (and illegal).

However I still find the picture true :) Microsoft needs devs for WP8 and new Windows and so on. Apple needs lawyers to weaken competition (they've lost focus on products a while ago)
