Before a big storm, make sure to check and clean your gutters. Rain can actually force leftover leaves and debris to plug your downspout, causing overflow onto your roof or into your yard.

We had a new roof & gutter guards installed by Straight Line and the whole process took just a couple of days, from estimate to tear off to final clean up. They are a great company to work with. Honest, fair, quality work. By far the best company in their category.

I am very happy I chose Straight Line Construction to replace my roof. The President, Jack, was very patient when answering all my questions and gave me plenty of options. The Foreman, Noe, and the guys did a great job, very friendly. The project was completed within two days. I will be choosing Straight Line for all my future projects.

Straight Line recently installed replacement skylights in our Roseville home. The entire process from the first visit by Phil Smith to the installation by job foremen Roger and Richard and their crew was top notch. Not only are they affable and courteous but they know their trade. The crew quickly corrected all problems with the installation of the existing aging skylights and installed the four new solar powered Velux opening skylights in record time. The job site was quickly cleaned and the trash was hauled away. Kudos on a job well done. Doc and Sandie

Our Pollock Pines windows, siding, and exterior paint: If it was not for the fact that the work turned out okay, I would have given straight line a one star review. Their communication practices are awful; the right hand does not know what left hand is doing. The project manager is a total salesman and doesn't stay in touch throughout project. It appears that his interest went out the window as soon as we signed on the dotted line. The job has been done for about a month and he has not called once (nor has anyone else with the office) to check on our satisfaction of the job completion, but of course we got an invoice within a couple days of the job completion. To make matters worse, I have been getting emails every couple of days stating that there is a balance due on our account. I have already called and spoke to the office personnel and explained that the balance is being held because the bank is waiting on them to submit their scope of work and that there is nothing else to do on our end. The lady in the office stated that she would take care of it, yet I continue to get emails. It is disappointing that the only follow up received was to ask us to release payment, but not to ask us how everything turned out. Overall, the work turned out okay, so I give the workers credit for that, but between the office personnel and the project manager and horrible communication, this whole project was much more stressful than I would have expected from a company that the project manager states gets five star reviews across the board. A couple of times someone in the office would call me to relay a message that she was supposed to relay the day before so that we could prepare (example: lock chickens in the coop for the day so they would not be in the way). By the time I actually got the call, it was a day too late and the work crew was already at the house. We gave the paint colors to the project manager as he requested, and then someone in the office would call me later to ask me for the colors indicating that she was never given the paint colors by the project manager. These are just a few examples of what went on before and during the project. Between the horrible communication and the fact that there was not even a follow up walk through done with us at the end of this project, I am very dissatisfied with Straight Line and will most likely not be using them on any of our future house projects.

We have had 14 different jobs done for us over 3 different houses by 11 different contractors. Out of the 11 contractors, 3 have done exceptional work, to the point where we hired them again in the future, and even felt disappointed that we didn't have anything more for them to do, b/c they made what is usually a very stressful, tiring, and aggravating event almost fun. In 2006, we had our Placerville roof redone on another house by this company. They gave us a reasonable price, did a good job with some helpful recommendations on how to place solar tubes, and the crew were friendly, efficient, and willing to listen to questions and comments on what we might like done differently. Overall we had a good experience with them, and the minor issues we did have, left over nails and roofing debris, plus incorrect solar tube placement, were dealt with immediately upon notification and with a good attitude. This company is one of those 3. We decided to redo and change two of our decks, one was full of dry rot, and the other, which also had some, was just not the dimensions we wanted. Called out 4 contractors last year and ended up being interested in hiring this company or another one that that had done two decks at another house in 2009. Both were reasonable priced, but SLC brought theirs slightly down below the other to capture our business. However, due to other things, we didn't do it last year. So, this year we called the two companies back to rebid b/c we had some other ideas of what we wanted done, plus prices might have changed. Neither was averse to returning, and we got two very reasonable bids. SLC was higher on one deck and the same on the other, but they could get us cable railing for way cheaper, due to a small local builder. So, we went with them. Brian, the crew supervisor, and his crew, James and Gary, came out when scheduled. They worked conscientiously the entire 3.5 days it took to do the job. Initially we did our following around checking things to make sure the job was being done well, but stopped quickly b/c we noticed that without our saying anything, the crew would fix something not quite right, or complete it as they went along, and didn't skip the little details or just do the "good enough" type of work that we have had to supervise with other companies. If we found something, it was minor, and Brian would nicely fix it or change it, or make suggestions on how to do it differently or take our suggestions, all without coming across angry, resentful or annoyed, it was such a change from most of our experiences with other projects and other companies. Only once was I a little surprised by a detail that I would not have expected from such conscientious workers, and that was minor but fixed with a smile as soon as I pointed it out. As weird as it may sound, they actually made me happy to have them there. We have had some really bad and some so-so companies that came highly recommended, weren't the cheapest price, and ended up with us having to ride herd on them, supervise their work etc. This didn't happen here, and that is truly a rarity in our experience. We would highly recommend them for quality work, friendly staff, reasonable prices, easy to work with, good work ethic, and overall pleasant experience. In fact, we hired them to do our exterior house painting, and expect the same high level of satisfaction again.

Love our new Decks! Found Straight Line thru Sac Home Show & 2 neighbors who had them relace their old roofs. We live in Greenstone and had a 20 year old two level 1,000 sq ft Redwood Decks that had dryrot and needed replacement.Met Rob W and in a 2 hour appt came on time, took pics and measured old deck and printed from his truck a written proposal. They were most reasonably but were sold on their company reputation and Robs promises. Asked for Brian (foreman) and Pepe and after demo day they finisted the job in 2 1/2 weeks. On time as promised and great experience watching our dream deck come to life each day. We went with Timber Tech Plank hidden fasteners for decking and 3 sets of stairs, Fortress Black iron railing and posts, and all new premium treated lumber. SL mgmt wioud either come by or call each day to see how the job was coming. What Rob and Brian promised, THEY DELIVERED.

Prior to listing our house for sale we had a pest inspection done and found we needed a new roof, gutters, dry rot repairs, new deck, doors & frames and the whole place needed painted. Jack, the owner of Straight Line Construction came out and I explained what all we needed and were under a time crunch. He spent about 3 hours and before he left, gave a bid along with a detailed account of what would be done, and said he could take care of all items listed in the pest report and have the project completed in 30 days. He even made a couple of suggestions of what we could personally do with landscaping to showcase the house. We were so impressed with his professionalism and detailed bid that we accepted it on the spot and cancelled the other two bidders. A project manager was assigned to us who on a daily basis let us know what to expect the following day. Jack then called every evening to check on our satisfaction and answer questions. Every crew member was just as professional as Jack, and they cleaned up the premises every day. The job was finished a week earlier that quoted and we couldn't be happier with the results. Straight Line is truly a one stop shop, who I would highly recommend if you want quality and worry free service.

UPDATED 3/17/15: Since my initial review, the owner of Straight Line has come out to our home to meet with my husband and I. He did a walk through with us and went over the timeline of events and items where things fell short during the project. I appreciate Mr. Borba's time and concern and felt that he really desired to find out where things went wrong and how he could implement improvements within his company to prevent these problems in the future, especially regarding communication between Straight Line and their customers. I respect the fact that our satisfaction was a priority to Mr. Borba and that he took the time out of his schedule to make things right. Thank you Mr. Borba!
