Roof Tip: There are many things you can see by doing a visual roof inspection from the ground.

If you have a shingle roof, look for streaking stains, curled/buckled shingles, areas on the roof missing granules or rusted flashings.

We hear so many misconceptions about navigating insurance claims that we decided to help our neighbors with a primer on roof damage claims.
With our busy workload in and around Placerville, we hear a lot of customers' tales of woe. More than once, we have been struck by how reluctant homeowners are to make claims on their homeowner’s insurance policy for roof damage. Somehow, people who

Here is a list of reasons why you will appreciate having gutter guards installed.
Gutters are an integral part of any roofing system. They assist the roof with proper runoff, enabling rainfall to flow steadily from the rooftop, away from doors and windows, and directs the water away from the building's foundation. But, as most homeowners are aware, gutter systems have

Straight Line recently installed replacement skylights in our Roseville home. The entire process from the first visit by Phil Smith to the installation by job foremen Roger and Richard and their crew was top notch. Not only are they affable and courteous but they know their trade. The crew quickly corrected all problems with the installation of the existing aging skylights and installed the four new solar powered Velux opening skylights in record time. The job site was quickly cleaned and the trash was hauled away. Kudos on a job well done. Doc and Sandie

Very professional. From beginning to end, we were extremely pleased with the work Straight Line completed on our Sacramento home. Our free estimate included photos & a very detailed description of each job; a new roof, replacing wood siding (dry rot), seamless gutters, & paint the home. Straight Line coordinated all 4 jobs which removed all the stress from us. We appreciated the job foreman’s phone call the night before to review the job & confirm start time. Workers were on time, efficient, knowledgeable and left the job site clean each night. Everything went smoothly, and all 4 jobs were completed in 3 weeks. Amazing! We highly recommend Straight Line.

UPDATED 3/17/15: Since my initial review, the owner of Straight Line has come out to our home to meet with my husband and I. He did a walk through with us and went over the timeline of events and items where things fell short during the project. I appreciate Mr. Borba's time and concern and felt that he really desired to find out where things went wrong and how he could implement improvements within his company to prevent these problems in the future, especially regarding communication between Straight Line and their customers. I respect the fact that our satisfaction was a priority to Mr. Borba and that he took the time out of his schedule to make things right. Thank you Mr. Borba!

We are very happy with the work that Straight Line Construction did on our house. They promptly and conveniently made the appointment to come out and discuss the work we wanted. The sales person was very knowledgeable and helpful to evaluate our needs. The quote was a little more than we anticipated but we were assured of our complete satisfaction with every detail. The work was expertly, politely and quickly performed but when small details were overlooked they promptly returned to make sure it was corrected to our complete satisfaction exactly as promised. The house looks beautiful and we feel confident it will last for many years to enjoy. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend or call on Straight Line again for any home improvement project.

Prior to listing our house for sale we had a pest inspection done and found we needed a new roof, gutters, dry rot repairs, new deck, doors & frames and the whole place needed painted. Jack, the owner of Straight Line Construction came out and I explained what all we needed and were under a time crunch. He spent about 3 hours and before he left, gave a bid along with a detailed account of what would be done, and said he could take care of all items listed in the pest report and have the project completed in 30 days. He even made a couple of suggestions of what we could personally do with landscaping to showcase the house. We were so impressed with his professionalism and detailed bid that we accepted it on the spot and cancelled the other two bidders. A project manager was assigned to us who on a daily basis let us know what to expect the following day. Jack then called every evening to check on our satisfaction and answer questions. Every crew member was just as professional as Jack, and they cleaned up the premises every day. The job was finished a week earlier that quoted and we couldn't be happier with the results. Straight Line is truly a one stop shop, who I would highly recommend if you want quality and worry free service.

Our Pollock Pines windows, siding, and exterior paint: If it was not for the fact that the work turned out okay, I would have given straight line a one star review. Their communication practices are awful; the right hand does not know what left hand is doing. The project manager is a total salesman and doesn't stay in touch throughout project. It appears that his interest went out the window as soon as we signed on the dotted line. The job has been done for about a month and he has not called once (nor has anyone else with the office) to check on our satisfaction of the job completion, but of course we got an invoice within a couple days of the job completion. To make matters worse, I have been getting emails every couple of days stating that there is a balance due on our account. I have already called and spoke to the office personnel and explained that the balance is being held because the bank is waiting on them to submit their scope of work and that there is nothing else to do on our end. The lady in the office stated that she would take care of it, yet I continue to get emails. It is disappointing that the only follow up received was to ask us to release payment, but not to ask us how everything turned out. Overall, the work turned out okay, so I give the workers credit for that, but between the office personnel and the project manager and horrible communication, this whole project was much more stressful than I would have expected from a company that the project manager states gets five star reviews across the board. A couple of times someone in the office would call me to relay a message that she was supposed to relay the day before so that we could prepare (example: lock chickens in the coop for the day so they would not be in the way). By the time I actually got the call, it was a day too late and the work crew was already at the house. We gave the paint colors to the project manager as he requested, and then someone in the office would call me later to ask me for the colors indicating that she was never given the paint colors by the project manager. These are just a few examples of what went on before and during the project. Between the horrible communication and the fact that there was not even a follow up walk through done with us at the end of this project, I am very dissatisfied with Straight Line and will most likely not be using them on any of our future house projects.

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to share my review of Straight Line Roofing and Construction. I was a recent first time homebuyer. I called multiple roofing companies to give me a quote on a complete tear off and replacement of the existing roof (I had 2 layers of roofs on the house). I was having really bad luck with roofing companies not explaining the estimates or not even responding to my inquiry for a quote. I went online to Straight Line's website and requested more information and a phone call. A lady from the office called to schedule an appointment for the owner, Jack, to come out to the house. Honestly, this was a little surprising for me since the other companies came out when I wasn't home and just sent an estimate through email. Jack came out with one of his workers, Eric, they were both extremely friendly and honest. While Eric took measurements of the roof and gutters (since those needed replacement too), Jack talked to us about the different options in roofing materials. He had samples and brochures to help us envision what he was discussing. Jack was able to give us estimates on the different roofing and we chose, there was no pressure. When we chose the materials, colors, and features we wanted, Eric went to the truck and began the estimate while Jack continued to talk to us about the different between Straight Line and other companies (Never talking bad, just stating the differences). Jack was able to keep the quote comparable to the others while offering better products and services. We accepted the quote that night and placed the sign in our yard. Within a week the installation was scheduled. It took Straight Line a day to tear off 2 roofs and one other day to put the new roof on. Both crews were polite and respectful. There was not any debris left on at the house. The day they were done, the neighbors came over and mentioned how much nice the roof looks now. I am extremely grateful to have been able to work with Jack and the Straight Line family on this roof replacement. It is scary enough being a first time homeowner so it was nice to have someone to explain each step while a major repair was taking place. Anyone I have talked to already about Straight Line has had nothing but great reviews and so do I. I would highly recommend them to all my family and friends. Jack even called me the day after to see if I had any follow up questions, comments, or concerns. I worked in customer service/retail for 10+ years and did not think I could ever be surprised about the quality of a business' work again but Straight Line proved me wrong. They completely exceeded all of my expectations.

Window repair during storm During the most recent rain storm we discovered a major leak in our window facing the south and of course it was on Friday at 3 pm. I called Straight Line and they were at our house on Saturday morning at 8 am fixing it before we had more interior damage. Great job, from a satisfied customer. Bill and Debbie Snodgrass
