Comments that an article is bad because it is catering just to apple users, is replied to that I am wrong and that the article is bad because it is catering just to apple users. Reasonably confused as a result.

This isn't a pro apple post before people jump down my throat. This goes for any software that might follow this design. Does Android? (i've honest to god never given android much thought).

Is it wrong I really prefer the way iOS multi-tasks compared to a desktop os such as Windows or macOS? What I mean is, I like that the multi-tasking is limited so that certain guarantees on resource usage are met. A music app can queue songs, trickle some internet data, and play audio. It doesn't need to keep an entire interface and hundreds of mb of cover art in ram. An app can request a few seconds of background cpu time to clean up a single task while the rest of it is already kicked out. I can get facebook background notifications without spending hundreds of mb of ram and huge bursts of javascript.

For the most part I am only actively using one app anyway, and perhaps glancing at another, which I can use pip for.

Just me?

Snappy vs flatpak. One supported by the most popular distro with a user base of desktop putzers, the other has contracts at nearly every major enterprise. Hmm.

I run the website fixubuntu.com, a place to quickly and easily learn how to disable the privacy-invasive features that are enabled by default in Ubuntu. This morning I received this email from an employee of Canonical Limited, the company that owns and manages the Ubuntu project:.

I know this is old news but I wish I knew about this when I left Ubuntu rather than looking back on it years later.

https://micahflee.com/2013/01/why-im-leaving-ubuntu-for-debian/

Wow this really sums it for me! Though I left LONG before Unity ever started being written as the primary desktop. The netbook one was a preview when I left for Debian.

When did Ubuntu decide to outright flaunt the Ubuntu philosophy?

What is kind of funny though is how I made the move to Apple this year, when I had much the same opinion. I currently 'fear' being locked into icloud (which I pay some $50 a year for, just for storage). Though much is the same of any vendor. It's not like I can't just copy everything off. Apple trending toward honesty, Ubuntu trending downward. At least out of the two, one makes quality products.
