Sheesh. My latest +Slate story hit a nerve. http://bit.ly/13ItZiE.

On Sunday, I explained why there are, in fact, a few errant photos of my daughter floating around online on America Weekend. Lots more media happening this week: CNN, CTV, NPR, CKNW…

t’s been just over a year since I became CEO again. Instead of our usual Founders’ Letter, I wanted to do something different and give you an update on what we are focused on. Top of my priority list has been creating a simpler, more intuitive experience across all our products so users get exactly what they need, right when they want it. While we will always have improvements to make, I am excited about our progress and the opportunities in front of Google today. You can read my CEO update below.

Someone who's very close to me is big name in public administration at the state level. The state that he works in is launching some significant new changes to the budget in progress that will impact his office significantly. He was told to reduce his staff by a ridiculously high number -- after making mandatory reductions last year.

The number of staff he'd be left with would cause big security and other issues... and because he cares so much for this particular office and the people in it, he took a stand against the administration. He offered other solutions as a way to keep necessary staff on -- one of which was to resign, divide up his salary to cover staff salaries and to eliminate his position all together. They accepted.

It was a brave decision he made after serving for 19 years, but one that saved a whole bunch of jobs. He's now looking for something new and is willing to relocate. He's highly educated, has won awards, has taught university classes and is looking to continue working in public administration -- either as an administrator or as an educator.

If you know of any leads, please get in touch and I'll connect you with him. I don't want to reveal too many details now, as the news hasn't been made public. He's willing to relocate.

I like him already -- someone who does what's right, protecting the public and his staff, when it puts him out of work? That's incredible integrity. I hope that good karma comes back to him 10x.

Webbmedia Group has partnered with the National Press Club Journalism Institute to offer hands-on digital media classes to the general public.

We’ve had tremendous success during the past five years with our corporate training. Last year, we were inundated with requests to offer our training to everyone, so we’ve launched a program at the prestigious National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The NPC will be our official, physical training hub in 2012.

Full announcement, list of classes and schedule at the link. Our first class is almost sold out!!
