Though we felt surrounded by regulars, we knew immediately that the food would be superb and it was. Preparations are unique and tasty. Portions are ample and the menu diverse. Booths are comfortable, though many regulars seem to opt for sitting at the bar where the movie mogul and converse with the music mogul for everyone to see. Certainly a hidden gem on the north side of Malibu.

My family and I dined at Savory last night and had a lovely meal and a wonderful time. We were entertained by a lovely singer with holiday songs. The atmosphere was lively and festive, the waitstaff was very diligent and the food was great! All tables and bar seating was taken, but the food came out timely and the wine glasses stayed full. The appetizers (the tempura peppers- you have to try them), we wanted to fill up on them but save room for the main dishes, very tastey and dessert, elegant and light. If in Malibu you have to stop in....

Food is decent, atmosphere is nice, but overpriced and the waiter needs a personality transplant. I have been there at least ten times in the last couple of months, and he kills it everytime. Not that he is not nice enough....he doesn't get Malibu. We are a small neighborhood. The restaurants we frequent, it's like Cheers....where everyone knows your name. This guy makes like he is just meeting me after seeing me once a week or more lately. And we eat in big checks with generous tips. It really is turning us off to this place.

January 7 2012 I have been to this restaurant many times and always gave it 5 stars. Havent been there in a while. Tonight it was DREADFUL. Same tired menu. The appetizers and one of the two main courses were awful. What happened to the gourmet chef. The dishwashers are doing the cooking. The place was half empty on a night when you couldn't even get in 6 months ago. It's expensive, and a real letdown. Don't waste your time or money. There are other much, much better restaurants in Malibu.

Tonight was my first experience at Savory & I must say it was a TERRIBLE one! The service SUCKED, the server was extremely inattentive & was incredibly impersonal! The food was mediocre to say the least, we had the sea bass, which was TASTELESS & the new york strip, which clearly was NOT a new york strip, it was a low quality cut of meat! I live in Malibu & was ecstatic about having a tasty new restaurant in town & was INTENSELY DISAPPOINTED !! SAVORY SUCKS DONT WASTE YOU TIME OR MONEY !!

An Absolute let down. Completely overpriced and the service left something to be desired. My friend totally hyped about this restaurant b/c of the chef and his accomplishments but I am not sure if he knows how to manage a restaurant or his staff. The food took too long to get to the table and we waited to get seated even though there were empty tables. The food was decent but everything is a la carte. For the price of the meals I think I should be getting a relatively rounded dish rather than having to order everything to complete a plate. The decor and the atmosphere is nice but as far as the overall value, I would not recommend this place.
