On Tuesday, the Virginia and New Jersey governor's races neatly summed up why the GOP hasn’t been winning elections. One campaign did exceedingly well at bringing in not only women and Latinos, but

I actually had a really good experience with Banfield. I took my cat in after another vet failed twice to diagnose the UTI. It was pricey but they got her taken care of immediately and were very thorough and helpful. They even called the next day to check in on her.

I initially took my cat there at 2am on a Friday morning. It was the closest 24 hour emergency vet. I'm no doctor, but when I went in I said that my cat was having symptoms that to me, were like a human UTI. She was straining to pee, constantly in the litter box, not peeing much, and constantly licking the affect area. They basically said UTI's are uncommon so they just gave her a pain killer shot and some anti-spasm medication for her bladder. I took her home. The bill was about $250. A few days and she seemed a bit better, but one night at 9pm, of course after all the vets had closed - she started exhibiting the same symptoms only worse and with meowing. So I had to take her back to the only vet open - the VCA Alexandria Animal Hospital. They saw her and prescribed the exact same things and suggested I get a urine sample and the visit cost $248. The entire next day I tried but couldn't collect a sample because she didn't urinate enough at one time. So I called them back because I did notice that her urine was pink - indicating blood. They said I'd have to bring her back and that even for a visit during normal hours. When I asked how much a normal visit costs they said about $75. Despite having been twice in 8 days, they would not budge on price or help. I made an appointment and took my cat to another vet who only charged $45 to see her and did a urinalysis and gave her antibiotics after diagnosing it as a UTI. If I had skipped VCA and gone to Banfield Vet in the first place? I would have saved almost $500. I can't help but think that VCA Animal Hospital is in the business of making money - not in curing pets. The first time not giving antibiotics? I could understand. The second time and then trying to get me to get the urine sample and not being willing to help when I couldn't? No. Skip this vet and go somewhere else unless it's the middle of the night and an absolute emergency.
