How high can cats jump? :D

How high can cats jump?

They can jump pretty high. They can jump up to seven times thiere tail length! How will Puss react to the new addition? A timid cat that is over-dependent on you, but hides from other people may become jealous and spray to cover up the scent of the baby. It needs to become less dependent on you well before the birth. A devoted cat that joins in human activities will have hurt feelings, but is likely to join in with caring for baby if you let him. An independent cat who treats you like a hotel will probably ignore the baby if hotel services remain unchanged. Many cats become protective of what they view as a 'people-kitten'. Cats' emotions are different to human emotions and. contrary to common belief, cats do not plot or plan to do future things through jealousy or vengefulness.

Ignore scare stories about cats harming infants, they are usually exaggerated and are only newsworthy due to their EXTREME rarity (the endnote about the Malaysian baby has caused scares, but is not comparable to a domestic situation)

Tales about cats suffocating babies abound, but actual occurrences are very rare; in many cases the presence of the cat was incidental. There was one confirmed case where the baby inhaled the cat's fur and its breathing was obstructed. Use a crib-net to keep your cat out of the crib or pram - this will reduce any accidental scratches and the transmission of bacteria.

Get information from your doctor and your vet about cat-borne organisms that can harm unborn babies and take appropriate precautions e.g. don't handle soiled cat litter and scrub garden vegetables before eating them.

Ensure Puss is healthy and vaccinated. De-flea and de-worm him regularly.

Establish the cat's new routine gradually. Let him sniff the crib, pram etc but teach him not to get inside them. Let him investigate the nursery before making it out-of-bounds; if he knows what's in there, it is less of a tantalising mystery. You may need to fit a scratch-guard to protect the shut door from an over-curious cat.

Get crib and pram nets so that the cat cannot bed down with baby. They must be taut when fitted or the cat may use them as a hammock.

Gradually reduce the amount of time spent petting your cat. After the baby arrives you will have less time for petting. Establish a special 'cat-time' e.g. in the evening (after a baby's bed-time) or get your partner to become more active in caring for the catand giving it attention.

Ensure Puss's feeding area and litter tray are well away from areas needed for preparing baby's meals. If you use litter trays, persuade Puss to use a covered litter-tray with a cat-flap entrance. Establish a feeding area out of reach of a toddler e.g. on a table in the utility room.

When baby arrives, Puss will be curious and slightly wary of the new and noisy arrival so don't panic when he sniffs the crib or hangs around. Many cats soon lose interest and look for entertainment elsewhere.

Keep the nursery door closed or fit a screen door when baby is asleep, but make sure Puss is not shut in the nursery as well. Keep windows closed (or fit mesh screens) to keep cats from entering from outdoors. A baby alarm or intercom will allow you to monitor baby.

Keep baby's feeding utensils out of Puss's reach and wipe up spilt baby food before Puss gets into the habit of hanging around and doing it for you. Keep cat food and baby food well separated.

Lyrics : -----------"Set Fire To The Rain"-------------------
I let it fall, my heart,
And as it fell you rose to claim it
It was dark and I was over
Until you kissed my lips and you saved me

My hands, they're strong
But my knees were far too weak,
To stand in your arms
Without falling to your feet

But there's a side to you
That I never knew, never knew.
All the things you'd say
They were never true, never true,
And the games you play
You would always win, always win.

[Chorus:]
But I set fire to the rain,
Watched it pour as I touched your face,
Well, it burned while I cried
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name!
SET FIRE | DUBSTEP

SCAM after SCAM.. and we are back to square one in defense scam...We have one more new Scam which is much bigger than Bofors scam....This time its "VVIP Chopper SCAM"
*Choppers for VIPs, cost to nation: Rs 3.6K Cr = 3600,00,00,00,000 *
->>First of all Thanks to Media Trails till now. I had tried my hard to get full details on this scam but didnt succeeded through getting one single link, where i can find all details but then I had made below analysis and My This post covers mostly all details about this scam and the things mentioned in this post will be supported by News links. So if you dont know anything about this scam ...you can read this post. [Point by Point Analysis on the scam started, how Bribe was offered then taken and how bribes may have been routed to India]
-------
[1] The Defence Ministry has almost finalised a deal to buy the helicopters for Rs 3,600 crore from Italian aviation company Agusta Westland but the Finance Ministry has objected to the price. The Finance Ministry’s dissenting note says that the price of approximately Rs 300 crore for one helicopter -- Rs 3,600 crore for 12 -- is way too expensive.
[2]Italy's state-controlled AgustaWestland had allegedly kept aside Rs 217 crore as part of ‘corrupt activity’ to bag India's Rs 3,600 crore deal and its choppers became eligible only after certain required parameters were altered in the tender document. According to the report filed by Italian investigators in an Italian court, the middlemen had agreed for a 7.5 per cent commission in the Rs 3600 crore deal for 12 VVIP helicopters.
[3] Finally, the kickbacks were to the tune of about Rs 362 crore. The payment of bribes through contracts between firms registered in Tunisia and India, was ‘still underway’ when the scam was unearthed. The report said CEO of Finmeccanica Giuseppe Orsi and AgustaWestland CEO Bruno Spagnolini had paid 30 million Euros (Rs 217 crore) to one of the main middlemen Christian Michel. "Orsi and Spagnolin, moreover, paid Micheal Christian a total amount of about Euros 30 million, partly destined to support the corruptive activity meant to bag the order and partly to implement the contract," the document said.
[4] The arrested CEOs of the two companies had also ‘paid Guido Ralph Hashcke and Carlo Gerosa (two other alleged middlemen), through a consultancy contract between AW spa and Gordian Services Sarl an amount of 400,000 Euros (about Rs 2.8 crore), of which 100,000 Euros (Rs 72 lakh) were paid cash to the Tyagi brothers (Julie, Docsa and Sandeep.’
[5] The report suggests that the middlemen had close contacts with the family of former IAF Chief Air Chief marshal S.P. Tyagi, particularly his three cousins.
One middlemen named 'ADR' has claimed in his interrogation that the first meeting of one of the middlemen Zappa with Tyagi happened at the time when the tender was in the Request for Information (RFI) phase.
[6] 100,000 euros or 720 lakhs in cash allegedly given to his cousins between 2004 and 2007. No money was transferred in the presence of Air Marshal Tyagi.
i.e Of the 30 million euros allegedly paid in bribes, 20 million was routed through two Switzerland-based intermediaries, Guido Haschke and Carlo Gerosa. Italian report says payments were made through Tunisia-registered companies controlled by Haschke and Gerosa and were then transferred to accounts in India and Mauritius.

[7] 3 companies listed in Italian report as conduits for the kickbacks: IDS Tunisia, IDS India and Aeromatrix. IDS India does not exist in Indian records. Aeromatrix was set up in 2009, months before the deal for the helicopters was signed. Its holding company is IDS Mauritius. The company, headquartered in Chandigarh, bought a contract to provide software solutions to AgustaWestland from another Chandigarh company called IDS Infotech. Aeromatrix's directors include Guido Haschke and Carlo Gerosa. Its CEO, Praveen Bakshi, has denied any links to the alleged scam and has said he has not been contacted by Italian prosecutors.

[8] The Ministry of Defence issued a detailed statement on the sequence of the $750 million deal for 12 VVIP AgustaWestland helicopters by the Italian firm's subsidiary, two days after a CBI probe was ordered into the bribery charges. The MoD asked the chief of AgustaWestland to "categorically state the clear position in view of the current developments indicating specifically if any financial transaction has taken place with any Indian individual/entity which violated the integrity pact or any other terms and conditions of the contract".
[9] It also cited the clauses of the integrity pact that was signed, noting that the contract bars paying of bribes or involvement of middlemen. The clause warned of "strict action including cancellation of contract, recovery of payment, blacklisting and penal action" against the vendors. The Defence Ministry warned that the government is "determined to take all possible legal and administrative action against the guilty parties and accordingly has ordered a thorough probe by CBI".

[10] On Tuesday, the Italian government arrested Finmeccanica CEO Giuseppe Orsi for allegedly paying bribes to fix the chopper deal. The Italian probe report suggests that the former IAF chief Tyagi had met the middlemen more than six to seven times and allegedly briefed them about the developments in the contract and indirectly received kickback.

IRCTC - One of the TOP Ranking E-commerce Web Site in Asia-Pacific region Every day earning ~37 Crore's INR.
->> Interesting data.. I was going through, how much IRCTC earn daily by selling Online Tickets. I got an article which is of march 2013.
[Electronic tickets account for approximately 48 per cent of the tickets sold every day, earning close to Rs. 37 crore daily, making the website among the top ranking e-commerce sites in Asia Pacific.]
[The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) set a record on Friday by selling more than 5 lakh tickets online after its electronic hardware and software were upgraded.
On March 1, as many as 5.02 lakh tickets were booked on the website, the previous record being 4.96 lakh tickets achieved on July 7, 2012. The improvement in the system was made possible by investments of Rs.3.5 crore for enhancing the concurrent connection to its firewall from around 10 lakh to 80 lakh and Rs.3 crore for augmenting the software licences and storage area network.
Another investment of Rs.4 crore is also being made to improve the capacity and servers. The IRCTC hopes these augmentations will improve the booking rate during the Tatkal hours (10 a.m. to 12 noon), enabling the customers to reserve approximately 60,000 to 63,000 tatkal tickets per hour, the current capacity being 40,000 tickets per hour.

Apart from banning agents from ordering tatkal tickets during these two hours reserved for the public, the IRCTC claimed that illegal bookings by automated software by unscrupulous touts would be curtailed.
Outlining the IRCTC’s plans in his Budget speech, Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said the website would be revamped in December to book 7,200 tickets per minute, up from the current volume of 2,000 tickets, and handle 1.2 lakh customers at any given time against the present capacity to take in approximately 40,000 hits.

Electronic tickets account for approximately 48 per cent of the tickets sold every day, earning close to Rs. 37 crore daily, making the website among the top ranking e-commerce sites in Asia Pacific.]

here You go...First Opposition to New CAG Appointment on the grounds of “serious conflict of interest”
Shashi Kant Sharma’s appointment as CAG unconstitutional: Prashant Bhushan
-Prashant bhushan will challenge appointment in Supreme Court.
[The appointment of defence secretary Shashi Kant Sharma as the next Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India is “illegal and unconstitutional”, eminent lawyer and Aam Aadmi Party member Prashant Bhushan said on Tuesday.
- Mr. Sharma’s appointment can be challenged in court on the ground that it would violate the principle of ‘institutional integrity’ that the Supreme Court had laid down in 2011, Bhushan said. He pointed out that while quashing the appointment of PJ Thomas as Central Vigilance Commissioner, the apex court had said that since there was a pending criminal case against Thomas, appointing him as the head of the Central Vigilance Commission would result in a conflict of interest. On this ground, “Sharma’s appointment is illegal, and liable to be struck down”, said Bhushan.

*He said that Sharma has a “serious conflict of interest” as he has served as the director general-acquisitions in the ministry of defence from 2003 to 2010, and subsequently as the defence secretary. During his tenure as director general, defence deals worth thousands of crores took place. These deals are being investigated over kickback allegations.*

Since a major part of the CAG’s job is to audit defence procurement, which Sharma has been involved with for seven years, it would compromise the principle of institutional integrity, Bhushan claimed. Besides, Sharma, a 1976 batch IAS officer, was given an extension last year to ensure that he becomes the CAG after Vinod Rai retires on Wednesday, claimed Bhushan.

Responding to an RTI query, the Department of Economic Affairs said that there is no formal system for the appointment or selection of the CAG. The selection is done only in terms of ‘past conventions and practices’. Absence of any procedure for selection allows the government to select a completely “pliable and perhaps even a dishonest” person in collusion with corporates, alleged Bhushan.]

End of an Era....CAG Vinod Rai retires on May 22. [From 2G to Coalgate]
->>I became fan of this man, Not because he put the numbers but because of his courage. He simply did his job. One needs that spine to fight with corrupt politicians who hold the chairs. his interview is really Very much inspiring. To my surprise such officers exists and urgent need of many for nation building. I dont make blind faith but Observation of a bench of Supreme Court of India while dismissing a petition challenging CAG reports on 2G spectrum, Coalgate, etc. Whichever government rules , CAG should do his duty well.... So he did it. hats off !
[None of the 30 Comptroller & Auditor Generals of India before him had created the kind of waves as he did. Vinod Rai threw up gigantic figures of money allegedly stolen from government coffers. In full public glare, he exposed corruption — first 2G and then Coalgate — which shook the government's very foundation. He was attacked, his motives questioned. But Rai stood his ground. On May 22, his tenure as CAG comes to an end. But even as he departs, he has possibly fundamentally changed the character of the 153-year-old institution. Future CAGs are unlikely to be toothless auditors. Rai discusses his eventful tenure with TOI's Pradeep Thakur in a free-wheeling interview.]
---
Q >Your tenure has been very eventful. You have redefined CAG by giving it the kind of teeth that TN Seshan gave to the Election Commission. Wouldn't you agree?

The role of every institution is well defined. It's only the question of how you operationalize that role, and for operationalizing it's not the individual who matters. I wouldn't say it is combination of stars but combination of team, time and the individual. So I was lucky to have a very good team. The other factor that worked in our favour was you - the media, the 24x7 channels. Media has become so alert and it knows what needs to be highlighted. From our report, the media picked up only substantial issues.
----------
Q> There's a perception that the media did so because you played to the galleries, that CAG in your time has played an adversarial role to the government.

Look, audit by definition has an adversarial role. Whether it is government audit or that of a public sector undertaking, the role of audit is to find out lacuna, to try and ensure that things have been done properly. If the executive takes the suggestions positively, we are on the same side. It's not 'we' and 'they'; it's 'we'. I'm a government servant as much as the finance secretary is. We are all trying to improve the governance of the country, the delivery channels, public policies and how they function. I am giving you suggestions, but if you start stonewalling them, saying what does auditor know, then where do we go? Yes, we work in hindsight, no doubt about it. But, that is what audit is all about.
---------
Q>In hindsight, would it have been better presenting the suggestions in a more low-key manner instead of holding grand press conferences? For that created the impression that you are going for the government's jugular rather than providing constructive criticism.

I fully agree with you. But you must understand our difficulty. In 1988, post Bofors, the then CAG T N Chaturvedi, the government and the PAC sat together and decided how best to deal with audit reports which are placed in Parliament since lot of misinformation (on Bofors) was doing the rounds. Then we came up with this media policy where it was decided to hold press conferences. The day my report is placed in Parliament, it is also my responsibility to inform the media accurately about what the report contains. This policy is being followed since 1988. The current media policy was framed in 2006 and I joined in 2008. No changes have been brought in. I enclosed this book (media policy) to the PM when he had said that you talk to print media. I wrote to him immediately on policy and asked him, "Sir, what do you expect me to do?"
