Cops Investigate ‘Armed Cat’ Holding a ‘Rifle’; Turns out to Be a Stick http://bit.ly/2qhA7hx

“We live in such a dangerous society that we never know when terror will strike…”

At least, that must be what Newport, Oregon police thought went through the mind of the concerned citizen who snapped the above photo when they took to Facebook apparently worried that a cat sniper with a rifle was stalking the streets of Newport earlier this week.

Can You Imagine a World Without Bees? http://bit.ly/2pFphEP

Worldwide, three out of four of our food crops depend on pollinators like bees, butterflies and other small creatures. In Europe, 84% of all cultivated plants are pollinated by insects – primarily bees.

Bees and other pollinators have a huge part to play in our food supply and the global economy. Pollination affects both the quantity and quality of crops.

Unsurprisingly, inadequate pollination of certain crops results in lower yields.

The contribution of bees in global crop pollination is estimated at €265 billion.

But industrial agriculture threatens bees by depriving them of valuable food sources and exposing them to toxic chemicals. As a result, bees and other pollinators are under serious threat. This puts our food supply and ecological balance at risk.

Annie Oakley Women’s Shooting Program Kicks Off in Nevada http://bit.ly/2qlGgZe

A gun safety and training course designed for women only kicked off this week in Nevada.

The first week of the Annie Oakley women’s shooting program in Las Vegas filled up 15 minutes before classes started, with dozens others turned away and encouraged to attend other sessions scheduled in the coming weeks, the NevadaCarry blog wrote Wednesday.

John, an experienced firearms instructor who wrote about the event’s inaugural night for the blog, said although male volunteers were onsite directing traffic and collecting paperwork, women only provided “the bread and butter” of the program, from classroom instruction to coaching on the range — and based on the attendance Tuesday, it should be “a resounding success.”

20 Amazing Facts About What Happens Every Single Minute of Every Single Day in Our Rapidly Changing World http://bit.ly/2pI8y43

Our world is changing at a blinding pace that is accelerating with each passing day. Thanks to the Internet, information travels at a speed that would have been unimaginable at other times in human history, and our technological capabilities are advancing at a rate that is exponentially increasing.

What all of this means is that seismic cultural shifts that used to take decades can now be accomplished in a matter of months or even weeks. So will all of this change lead to a wonderfully positive future for humanity, or will it result in a dystopian nightmare? Only time will tell, but what everyone can agree on is that our world is rapidly becoming a much different place than the world that our parents and grandparents grew up in.

3 Proven Ways Smartphones and Screen Time are Harming Children’s Health http://bit.ly/2pv2paz

For years, the cell phone industry has fought litigation and has tried to prevent warning labels from being added to their products, and in a 2017 landmark case in an Italian court, a judge even ruled that excessive cell phone use can in fact result in brain cancer. While it may take a number of years to develop, cancer is not the only negative health effect using today’s smart phones, and for children, the impacts of handheld fixation technologies are rather broad.

Even Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple, is well-known for not permitting his own children to use iPads, smartphones and other handheld devices, noting how addictive and openly available devices like these are in our society today.

“… when he [Steve Jobs] was asked “Your kids must love the iPad?” He said “Actually we don’t allow the iPad in the home. We think it’s too dangerous for them in effect.” The reason why he said that was because he recognized just how addictive the iPad was as a vehicle for delivering things to people. That once you had the iPad in front of you, or when you took it away from the home with you, you’d always have access to these platforms that were very addictive.

That were hard to resist.” ~Adam Alter, author of Irresistible: The Rise of Addictive Technology and the Business of Keeping Us Hooked

When You Have the Right Vibe, It’s Not a Coincidence: Synchronicities, Energy Healing, and Other Strangeness in the Field http://bit.ly/2pIRFWR

One piece of evidence for the holographic nature of nonstandard fields that have been proposed in recent years — the zero-point field (a candidate for the unified field [2]), the psi field of psychic phenomena, Ervin Laszlo’s Akashic field [3], and the morphic field proposed by Rupert Sheldrake [4] — is that they all share a common feature: sensitivity to similarity in vibration.

If a holographic image has many different holograms embedded within it, shining a laser of a specific frequency upon it will cause only those holograms made with lasers of the same frequency to stand out. That’s because things with the same vibration naturally resonate and reinforce one another — just as two violin strings at the same pitch resonate with one another. This property of resonance has [also] been used to explain how each of us might interact with mysterious fields like the psi or Akashic fields… People pick up only that with which they personally “resonate.”

Each individual’s resonant frequency, determined by their life experience, physical body, and energy body, limits what they can perceive.

3 Medicinal Mushrooms Anyone Can Find http://bit.ly/2qpgOC9

An old Croatian proverb went like this: “All mushrooms are edible, some only once.” The meaning: Yes, many mushrooms are delicious and nutritious, but many also are quite poisonous.

If you are not an experienced and competent collector and cannot positively identify look-alike species, I strongly suggest purchasing a field guide that will help you with this, and consider asking a veteran mushroom hunter to help.

Still, the world has 38,000 different species of mushrooms that hold medicinal qualities.

Yep, 38,000.

‘Doomsday Data Vault’ Opens In Norway; Will Help Rebuild Society Post-Apocalypse http://bit.ly/2qecRE0

The ultimate survival resource is now open for business on a remote Norwegian island.

Svalbard, Norway – already home to the Global Seed Vault – is now home to the Arctic World Archive, which is being billed as the keeper of information to rebuild civilization following a societal-ending apocalypse.

The vault located in an abandoned coalmine on the island of Svalbard is designed to be the ultimate data storage solution, The Verge reported. Data will be recorded on special film that can last as long as 1,000 years and stored 984 feet (300 meters) underground. The film is expected to last that long because of the extreme cold on the island, which is 1,172 miles north of Oslo.
