Waves of GoldSunset's Fading Golden Glow on White Sands
This was one of the very rare (although not unheard of) opportunities where I have had a good friend along for the ride. Chasing the light across the landscape has been, for the most part, a very solitary experience. White Sands, New Mexico is a truly odd and unworldly place, one that will make your head spin as the day transitions into night.... the white gypsum sands play tricks on you... making you feel as though your entire world is upside down. Those sands will also play tricks on your white balance, as the ground before you will reflect the colors of the sunset in transition, shifting from bright white through oranges and pinks until, finally, the blue hour envelopes the land...
I came across this photo from a year ago, organizing albums of images as I take stock in today... pondering where I was just 12 months ago. Like the sands in these dunes... so much has changed so quickly... Wanderlust is setting in again.
