Portevenere Sunset by Michael A Blanchette

Portovenere is a village on the Ligurian coast of Italy. The town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with nearby Cinque Terre. The place dates back to the 1st century BC, when it was a fishing community in Roman times. One of the town attractions is the Doria Castle, which sits on cliffs overlooking the Ligurian Sea (left of yucca tree). The castle was built by the Geneose in 1161 for the very wealthy Doria family who played a significant role in the Republic of Genoa. The prominent peak is Mount Muzzerone. This photo was taken at sunset from a flat rock at sea level.
