Emmerich Koller was born in Hungary, fled to Austria following the Hungarian Revolution in 1956 and immigrated to the United States in 1960. He was a German teacher for thirty-six years before retiring. He now enjoys reading, writing, and traveling with his family. He published his first book, Good Dogs Do Stray: Memoir of an Immigrant from Hungary
in 2006. He also published several articles and speeches in English and German about various topics, including his experiences as a teacher and the region in Hungary and Austria where he was born.
In October 2011, Mr. Koller's book was published in German: Über die Grenzen: Erinnerungen eines Emigranten aus Ungarn. He recently returned from a successful book tour in Austria and Hungary. For news coverage of his presentation in his home village of Pernau, click on following link:
