Today has seen a flurry of press coverage following the announcement that we are working with Lancaster University to compile a new, publicly accessible corpus of spoken British English called the ‘Spoken British National Corpus 2014’ (the Spoken BNC2014). http://news.sky.com/story/1324831/cheerio-marvellous-youre-no-longer-awesome
The words cheerio and marvellous lose their popularity due to the American influence on Britons and the rise of the digital age.

To celebrate National Poetry Day, the University of Cambridge have launched a project that seeks the nation's most memorised poems to investigate the power of poetry 'by heart'. What poem do you know by heart?
On this year’s National Poetry Day (2 October), themed ‘Remember!’, the University of Cambridge will launch the first nationwide survey to find the UK’s most memorised poems. The survey is part of a research project investigating how our relationship to poetry changes when it’s committed to memory.
