Everyone who uses chrome with a mouse hates chrome’s new menu style. It is however possible to get rid of it for good, at least in windows anyway.

WARNING this requires making changes to the registry.
Making changes in the registry can cause problems if you make a mistake. You should create a system restore point before proceeding in case you need to do a system restore with the restore point to undo a mistake made in the registry.

To permanently disable chrome’s new menu style …

First install an extension that runs in the background. Then go to “chrome://settings/”, click on “show advanced settings...”,  under Background apps check “Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed”

Open “registry editor” (regedit.exe) and go to “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run”
Find "GoogleChromeAutoLaunch_404A292356CD737C6DBBBC5FB82F732B" and double click on it. Under Value data add ( –disable-new-menu-style) without parenthesis on to the end.

Now in the navigation pane right click on Run and select permissions, Take Ownership of the registry key, uncheck include inheritable permissions from this object's parent click add, and then set everyone’s permissions to read only. If you don't do this Google will change it back the next time chrome updates.

Log out and back in or reboot and never have to put up with new menu style again.
