Serafina is a restaurant that tries, but fails in several areas. Let me explain further: Atmosphere (4/5): The restaurant tries to be more upscale, and they did a pretty decent job. However, the taste in decor is a bit tacky. I dont think Christmas lights should be used as a year round decoration. It is also located in a outdated shopping mall style building, which detracts from the feel as well. If you can overlook these, than the atmosphere is fine. Service (1/5): The service is lacking, there seems to not be enough staff, the time to get service is often too long (even on slow nights), the servers are not trained on a lot of the techniques you come to expect from a high end restaurant. Price (1/5): The prices are high, but the food does not match the price. The items on the menu sound good, but are not prepared with quality items, and you can tell that the chefs are not well trained and do not put much effort into creating an exceptional dish. The food is nothing that you couldn't easily make at home, but the prices are extremely high. Overall, I would recommend staying away from this restaurant. The food is decent, but not worth the money, and the atmosphere and service do not offset this negative aspect. This restaurant should only be your last resort if you can't get a table at a nicer restaurant, but need to take visitors somewhere that 'seems' upscale and nice.

Today is April 5, 2013. I went to meet a friend at Serafina's. I have eaten there many times and, thoroughly, enjoyed the atmosphere, Cosmos and food! THE RESTAURANT IS CLOSED!!! It would have been nice if they noted that on their website. Kate Bonner, Boxborough

Last night my husband and I had dinner here prior to a show at The Concord Players. We were a bit hesitant due to the mixed reviews, but figured we would try it out. The decor is lovely, but the noise level detracts from the atmosphere. Despite being 15 min early for our reservation, we were seated right away, which was a plus. Overall the service was poor - the waitress was not personable at all, had to be reminded about refills on our drinks, took forever to take our order, and never came back to take our money to pay the bill - we had to ask the manager to get her so we could get our change so that we could leave. The food was good but overpriced. I had the veal, which was flavorful but "mushy". My husband had the chicken medallions, which he said was good but nothing to rave about. The sweet potato mash was excellent, the chocolate raspberry cake for dessert was very good, and the coffee was perfect. The entire dinner took a full 2 hours due to very long waits between courses - we had the antipasto for two as appetizer, followed by two entrees, with dessert and coffee at the end. It could be that the kitchen doesn't start cooking your entree until you are finished with the appetizer, but if so then this should be noted when ordering. The 16 year old piano player was outstanding and should be playing a much better venue. I do not believe that we will return and will probably go to Papa Razzi next time we are in the area.

WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER! I don’t take my reviews on Google lightly (read my others if you wish) So I am sorry to say this was my families and my worse dining experience ever. The music was great, and thank god for that, since it took 20 minutes just to get a menu… Over an hour for the appetizers…Truly poor service – worst ever experienced. Perhaps someone called in sick, I don’t know, but at the least poor management. 27 minutes for my first beer, almost another 20 before I got another - after I was out! Hopefully the food will be good…NOT WAY AT ALL. I got a simple fettuccini bolognese, and it was flavorless. Even my son complained that his French fries were not fries, but fried , quartered baked potatoes. Well after my pasta I can tell you, they were OK to me. What a waste. If you want Italian go 5 minutes further to Papa-Razzi, if you want a fine meal go to the Coach Grill. Don’t waste your hard earned money here! The atmosphere and music were good, but don’t go for the food nor the service.

Service was slow (they were badly understaffed the night we were there and apologized to us for that). The food was mostly decent but way overpriced; the entree was all right (I had duck, and i was OK but not very interesting, you can do a lot better with duck), but I had a side of orzo that was very bland, it tasted like just pasta with butter and nothing else. I guess overall if this had been a mid-price restaurant we would have been happy, but it was a lot more than we expected ($100 for two people, which included a salad and 4 glasses of one of their cheaper wines), we would hope for a lot better. We won't be going back.

Disappointing. We came here with a Groupon, so got dinner for two at reduced price, but even with the Groupon it wasn't cheap, and if we had paid full price we would have been grossly disappointed. Salads were good, but entrees not. Scallops were swimming in too much butter but no apparent seasoning. Roast duck not actively bad but uninspired. The place was almost empty, but service very slow. Our waitress seemed most interested in chatting with the other waitress.High point was, as the last review noted, the pianist. He was obviously highly skilled and playing beneath his skill to provide background music. He seemed to appreciate our appreciation. I hope he finds a better gig.We would not return here.

Serafina's in leaving, and I'm happy they are. For years, it's been a mistake to go there every time. The owners are sketchy, filthy, and rude. There are numerous health and building code violations. Most importantly, the food is disgusting. I ordered a tomato bisque (about 10 dollars) and it made campbells tomato soup seem like it was chef ramsey's. The bread-stale, the pasta-sloppy, the menu-odd and not diverse.
