Right place, right time.

A friend and I were up in the Quehanna Wilds area of Pennsylvania a couple weeks ago.  For the most part, this year's fall foliage around here has been disappointing.  We decided on a whim to check out this pond before moving on to a waterfall in the area.  I'm so glad we stopped in here.  It was perfect timing.  The sun went behind some clouds and the wind was still enough for a great reflection of the white tree trunks in front of the fall colors.  About 2 minutes after this shot, the wind kicked up, the sun came out and it was all over.

It's been a long winter of browns and whites.  It's so nice to have some color up here in Pennsylvania now.

I had my first opportunity to shoot Pittburgh from the Duquesne incline.  The early forecast was for thunderstorms, but luckily, everything ended up clear for the evening.

All winter, I've been hoping to get out and photograph when the snow is fresh on the trees.  But every snowstorm seemed to occur when I was at work.  Well, it finally happened.  I had to work this day, but my wife woke me up early because she knew I would want to go out and get some shots.  Due to some shoveling and some snow blowing, I only had about 30 minutes to spend before getting ready for work.  So I went down behind our property to the spring dam, hoping for a nice shot of the Hoover House surrounded by snow-covered trees.  It was a beautiful scene.  And I'd like to thank the ducks for cooperating and lining up nicely for the photo.  :)

I took my first trip to Dolly Sods in West Virginia.  Having seen so many beautiful photos from the area, a trip for me was long overdue.  It's such a neat landscape up there.  Sunrise wasn't as spectacular as we had hoped, but it was worth the trip just to see this amazing place so that I can be more prepared for the next trip...and the next...and the next.

Since the weatherman was calling for it to hit 1000 degrees yesterday, I went out for a little hike in the morning hoping I wouldn't spontaneously combust before I could get back to the air conditioning.  I was drawn to this flower because the leaves were curled up rather than hanging down like all the others in the garden.  As I had the tripod set up, a visitor came along for a little snack.

This is Christ Church at Old Bedford Village in Bedford, PA. It's a reconstruction/replica of an old church in the county. Old Bedford Village is a living history village that hosts reenactments, festivals, old-fashioned Christmas celebrations, etc.
