Off-topic: speed reading like spritz
As the title suggests, this is a non-machine-learning, non-vision, non-python post gasp. Some people in my network posted about spritz a startup that recently went out of stealth-mode. They do a pretty cool app for speed reading. See this huffington post ...

Just reading 'The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable' and I'm very disappointed. After being 1/4 through the book the statements seem to be "There are long-tailed probability distributions" and "We tend to forget we made modelling assumptions", only less clear.  I like 'Thinking, fast and slow' way better when it comes to illustrating how bad humans are at statistics.... Well, maybe there's still something hidden in the rest of the book.

Meet me at the Amazon booth in the Friday lunch break at NIPS2013 to talk about computer vision, machine learning and working at Amazon.

I'm a bit disappointed by the fact that people that use scikit-learn at their company don't even bother to reply to mails about testimonials. A community provides free software an support and they can't even give back an email (let alone a testimonial). Not to mention that testimonials mean more funding, means better free software for them. Well, whatever....
