I totally support +Will Hindmarch and however long it takes for him to finish Dark. I have faith he's making progress and that the game will see the light of day.

I feel like support he gets or lack of support depends on four things:

1) Invest vs Pre-order
Those who still do not understand that Kickstarter is an investment, not pre-order. You are essentially donating money for something you believe in, any rewards are a thank you. You're not buying shit. It's a gamble and you shouldn't throw the money out there if you can't afford it.

2) Mental Health Stigma
Is it my own mental health situation giving me bias? I see and understand the struggles Will brings up in his updates. I relate and support him. I believe I see progress. I feel like too many people simply do not understand this or actually deride it.

3) Results vs Process
Those who are very results-driven, as our US culture encourages us to be, find it hard to relate to a process approach, figuring it out as you go. I believe Will is tackling a lot of new things with this project, many not in his wheelhouse. I believe he has the talent and skills to do it all, and want encourage our creators to try new things. If we are too risk averse, nothing progresses.

4) Art vs Product
I believe in supporting artists. I believe Kickstarter allows me to do this this. Art is not mass production capitalism. I believe role playing games are art. I believe Will is crafting art. I support him, as an artist myself. If people want just any old game they can go out and buy one. I feel like I have gotten my money's almost alone from the sneak peaks given so far and the ideas that they have generated already in my own game design and play. I didn't support Will because he's a professional (though I believe he is), I supported him because I think he is an artist. Art doesn't need a reason to exist.

Last year, the theme and ingredients were the inspiration to finally complete a Game Chef for the very first time. I had four solid ideas with mechanics on the first day, the hard part was choosing between them.

This year, I'm having difficulty with the theme and ingredients. I'm gonna go sleep on it.

Mental health is the invisible disability. Even programs that are there to support those with disabilities seem to dismiss your mental health issues if you're showered, articulate, and write legibly.

I know it's the negative thinking kicking in...but how is one to get the help they're told they need if the help isn't willing to support you?

One of those days.
