Sensitivity Training For Managers – Did you know the company can be held liable for harassment even if management isn’t aware of what’s taking place? Are we doing enough to educate our employees and protect the company? Sexual Harassment Prevention Training – Sexual harassment is still the most common complaint the EEOC receives. Do you know the difference between Quid Pro Quo and Hostile Work Environment harassment? Quid Pro Quo sexual harassment can only be perpetrated by someone who has authority over the alleged victim or their job. Hostile Work Environment is where the harassment affects the alleged victim’s ability to do their job. This can be much more elusive to identify and can sometimes appear subjective. Prevent a Hostile Work Environment – Most people don’t come to work to intentionally harass or discriminate. They get upset and they open their mouth and, quite frankly, say something dumb. Prevent a Hostile Work Environment – One of the difficulties with workplace humor is understanding that it’s not the intent of the joke/comment that’s dangerous; it’s the impact on those who hear it. Even if an alleged victim laughs at the humor, they can still file a legitimate harassment and/or hostile work environment complaint. Sensitivity Training – 40% of employees who file a formal EEOC complaint or lawsuit said they did so because nothing was done about their internal company complaint. NEVER discount or trivialize an employee’s internal complaint…”I’m sure they didn’t mean anything by it”…”If they didn’t like you, they wouldn’t tease you”…”It’s just the way they blow off steam”…”You have to have a pretty thick skin to work around here”…are nothing but rationalizations that can send an employee into the arms of an outside intervener!
