Because I live so close by, I have tried Edna's on several accounts. I have to say, mediocre at best and definitely overrated. Today, for the last time, I gave Edna's a shot and found myself once again extremely disappointed. Against my better judgement, I paid over $8 for 2 "iced" coffees and watched the barista pour hot coffee over ice in a plastic cup and hand it to me. I paid $1 more for iced coffee instead of regular coffee and my ice had melted before I even made it home! I am currently sipping on iceless, room temperature coffee as I write this review. If Edna's is going to expect people to pay extra for iced coffee and you're not going to at least provide a cold brewed (or at least COLD) coffee, please have the decency to move the coffee pots from view of the drive thru window so I don't have to watch the ice melt and steam rise from my cup before I'm handed my drink. Furthermore, at the very least, please provide ICE if I'm going to be charged for it. I definitely suggest Starbucks at Ingles or the Fresh Market if you're in the area and in the mood for a quick cup of coffee. The prices are lower, more flavors to choose from and service is faster.

I've been coming here for years until recently (when it got unbearable) its just less than mediocre. The music is usually really bad to inaudible so bring your ipod / headphones. Lately the service has been really bad. The baristas, rather than making brief eye contact and saying "hey - be with you in a sec" have gone to awkward silence and no contact - and due to the longer than usual wait now (without a line) we're stopped going. I don't encounter this anywhere else. Too boot, the coffee has been really weak lately, not sure whats up w/ that. Mostly this is where the old folks in the N. Merrimon Ave area hang out so its usually full, but largely non-happening like a few others shops nearby. Also, the obsession w/ pugs is bizarre and equals really bad artwork. Pretty much just can't go here anymore. On the plus side, wifi is unlimited and the food hasn't tanked yet, but its easier to just go elsewhere where the baristas aren't floating in space and out to lunch.

Great coffee and delicious food. Always able to have a good, albeit short, conversation with the baristas. They have always been nice and respectful. The food and drinks take a little longer than a chain, but I'm willing to wait for fresh food that's prepared to order.

A friend and I went here for coffee one evening. There were two staff members running the counter who appeared to be processing food orders. They ignored us for 8 - 10 minutes as we stood there waiting until we walked out. Not so much as a glance in our direction or "I'll be with you in a moment." Honestly I've thought about going back to give it a second shot, but haven't returned on principle.

Too expensive. I just got a sandwich and an medium iced coffe and with tip (%15) I paid over $15. Pretty much everything on the menu should be $1-$2 cheaper. Other than that it's usually a pretty good place to go with the exception of a few bad experiences here and there.

I liked them before they started closing at 6. I can't even get here before then. Guess Ednas and I are breaking up!

Service is lovely. Nice and bright. But coffee drinks are the most expensive I've ever seen. $4.50 for a medium americano (just espresso and water). : (

Prices are a bit steep, but if you're looking for a great smoothy on a hot summers day, they are fantastic.
