Step by step. Not pitching Google+, just explaining it.
Wondering how to use certain features of Google+? After you've read this, you'll know your way around the new social network.

Definitely going to take these tips into account. Especially the one window rule. Prioritize, simplify, and then bleed productivity. I like.
With Google+ adding to the overwhelming amount of tools/distractions out there, I wanted to give a few tips that have worked for me to keep focused and also allow myself to be creative in a world of over-sharing/information. Please add your own!

1. Turned off email notifications from social media sites: The day I realized I wasn't really THAT important, I figured the world could wait until I checked them on my time. I check in enough to them throughout the day without it clogging up my inbox.

2. Turned off audio/vibrate alarms on my phone. The only time my phone makes a sound is if UnJr's school or home is calling. Other than that, my phone is silent. It allows me to check it on my schedule, not while I'm in the middle of something more important. Like talking to someone face-to-face, or playing Xbox with my son.

3. Not checking my phone when I'm with someone at lunch/meeting/coffee. If I'm talking to you, and you're checking your phone 15x it tells me your phone is more important than me. I was doing this constantly before, and I realized it made me look like a jerk.

4. One-window rule. Only have one window open at once on the computer. I mean one total, nothing minimized. This is the hardest one for me to stick to. Heck, I once checked Twitter on my Blackberry while having it open on my laptop.

Multi-tasking isn't a skill, it's a distraction and productivity drainer. I get more done in 30 minutes with one window, than 4 hours with 5 open.

What about you?

I'll say it, tomorrow is going to be the best day ever. +Adam Uthe is visiting, Beaver's for lunch and the final Harry Potter movie at midnight!

It amazes me the amount of activity I see on social networks late at night. Are we becoming a nation of insomniacs or are our work schedules becoming more flexible than previous generations?
