Some words go together better than others. A collocation is just that: a combination of words that are commonly used together. For example, the verb "ask" is often used with the preposition "for": I asked for help. These combinations can sometimes be difficult for English language learners. #americanenglish   #aprenderinglés   #inglés   #britishenglish   #guatemala   #esl   #TOEFL   #IELTS   #ELASH

We hope to teach you about infinitives today! There are some verbs in English that are followed by an infinitive and not a gerund. An infinitive is the basic form of a verb with "to." A gerund is the "ing" form of a verb used as a noun. The verb "hope" can be followed by an infinitive but not a gerund.("We hope to teach you.") Here are some more verbs that can be followed by infinitives, but not gerunds. Use one or more in a sentence here! via American English at State.

Choose 3 words and write a sentence for each. Be sure to use the infinitive with to. Write your sentences in the comments for us to check!
