Danny Scheinmann about Storytelling at #SearchLove

Story is powerful.

For thousands of years, we've been telling stories.

Stories -> Oxytocin -> empathy -> your more likely to spend money

Stories make objects more valuable.

Dove-case. Real beauty. Dove was one billion dollar brand and became two billion dollar brand overnight because of s story.

Abstract ideas at the top ladder

Bottom ladder: concrete metaphors that illustrate the abstract idea

Businesses usually get stuck in the middle: "Great customer is important to us."

Give me an example and then I'll understand.

Stories are like flight simulator for the brain.

When you look at the website of your client, look at the meaningless slogans and transform them into stories.

Tell a story which link the top of the ladder to the bottom of the ladder.

USing unusual objects (like ladder) make presentations rememberable.

You might remember that some jerk was on a ladder when you don't remember anything else about this conference.

GE took all the mission statements from the website and started to show videos, some of which have been seen millions of times.

Hero's journey - is the single most important story structure. It is shared by Disney films and Star Wars.

Four story archetypes you can use:

1. Challenge stories - David and Goliath
2. Connection stories - Romeo and Juliet
3. Creativity stories - Newton
4. How we do it different stories - Nordy
