As I travel in and out of NYC almost daily, I see the homeless, eyes cast down, cups rattling in hands that shake from the cold.  Sometimes, you see one of them break down suddenly, and they rush to hide their tears behind their scarves.  Many, if not most, are veterans.

I had to share this, too moved to keep it to myself.

The NTIA plans to let its contract with ICANN to operate key domain-name functions expire in September 2015, while requiring the organization to develop a new global Internet governance model, NTIA...

Beautiful site for a brilliant initiative---to standardize the icon web developers use to represent languages.  Makes some damn good points against using the globe or flag icons in its stead.

Introduction

Hi.  Building an online identity while working a 9-to-5 is exhausting.  But I’m not complaining.  I love developing on a giant database of marketing materials with complex layers of meta data to manipulate and present to the users in morsels of searchable goodness! ...Ahem.  I'm getting ahead of myself, I see. :)

Anyway, then I get to come home to the Active Voice, a seedling company @CharlesBivona and I started in 2009 in an effort to combine his doctorate-level knowledge and my passion for the free, globally public stage: the Internet.  We take our knowledge and share it with other creatives, leveraging our collective voices through social media for one cause: building a more connected human community.

My foci are web development, UX/UI, content, digital learning, and project management. I guess I just love organizing information.

All that doesn't leave time for much else, but I somehow put together a site of my own.  You can view my experiments at http://luzmcosta.com.

Bragging rights
I have the eyes and ears of thousands through the sites I manage. CharlesBivona.com is @CharlesBivona and my brain child receiving hundreds, sometimes thousands, of visitors per day, tens to hundreds of new Twitter followers every week through the @CharlesBivona handle. At once, I'm a web developer using jQuery, PHP, and HTML5 on a fairly massive SQL database. ...Oh, and my work is my play. I don't think most people get to say that and mean it. ;)
