Well, my personal domain ( brandonholtsclaw.com ) has been down now for more than 3 hours, when I contacted support at wpengine.com to see what their ETA was to fix it #1 they were not aware of my issue yet even though I'd opened a support ticket #2 they said it would "be a while" and suggested I "point my dns to AWS or something" and they would let me know when it was ok to move it back !!
Ummm Hello if I take the time to point my DNS away I'm NOT going to point it back, and all of this from a provider that specializes in Wordpress hosting ... get your act together ladies and gents!
I think I'll be moving my blog to octopress like +Jorge Castro or use the rock solid platform we built for +Joey-Elijah Sneddon on #juju to host +OMG! Ubuntu! , one of the two but it wont be on wpengine.com after this I'm afraid ... and I'll have a very very hard time not convincing others to do the same and quickly.
Boy I wish I could spend my weekend doing something other than this ...

Hey Brandon, thanks for writing about this. I'm the Brand Ambassador for WP Engine, and as such I am very sorry to hear that you've been disappointed in our service. We place top priority on your customer experience, so it's always very helpful to hear when someone hasn't been happy with us. While we strive to be an amazing solution for a certain type of website, we're not the right solution for everyone. There are a lot of really great hosting solutions for WordPress on the market, including ZippyKid, Pagely, and WebSythesis. We want to make it simple for you to get your site hosted with the right company, even if that isn't with WP Engine.
I took the liberty of looking up support tickets associated with your domain, and see the conversation that you had. Looks like your site is back up and running (fast), and that you were notified that things were back up and running last night at 10:52PM. Our sysadmins resolved a few issues that affected a very small # of sites, which unfortunately included yours. Downtime is something that happens for any host from time to time, but we have an amazing team of sysadmins who were working on the downtime when you spoke with our support on the phone, and got your site back up ASAP.
We're here to help make this right. Please feel free to email me directly, austin@wpengine.com, so we can chat and do what it takes to ensure that you're really happy about your hosting partner day in and day out.

I spoke to support @ 7pm , 10:52pm is not ASAP nor acceptable for any reason of downtime.
I've sent you an email to continue the conversation.Jul 1, 2012
