I finally got to play around with our GoPro, just need to get good at it now! First ever #TimeLapse test:

Ok, this is rare for me, I usually try to find a silver lining, but I'm going to have a moan about Facebook's new "news feed rankings". I knew that the promoted posts would soon mean that more businesses would appear in my Facebook news feed, but I didn't realise that they would also be reducing the amount of posts from my friends in my news feed to the extent that they have. The only reason I'm on facebook is to keep in contact with friends and family and share pictures of my travels. But now I go to see what people are doing and there's maybe 10 posts in a morning when I check, and maybe another 10 when I go to bed. I very much doubt only 20 people of my 650 friends are interacting all day. In the short term this means businesses will be getting way more exposure, but now that I have to physically search for friends individually to see what they're doing really frustrates me, and as an end user.. I feel a little robbed, and as a conclusion I feel that I need to quickly unlike a heap of businesses to make sure I get my friends feeds back where they should be! Is this a phase.. or is this the way it's going to be on facebook now?

Great article comparing the eye trackes on the old Facebook compared to the new Timeline - good for designers to know: http://mashable.com/2012/04/30/facebook-timeline-eyetrack-study/

This is a nicely done site - just type in all of your websites that you check daily, e,g Mashable/design Taxi and it displays all the new feeds nicely - it saves heaps of time! http://subpug.com/

I have been waiting a lifetime to be able to create a purple website, and look at these guys just flaunting it about - don't you think it's a great colour for web? http://designm.ag/inspiration/examples-of-purple-in-web-design/

We've just been researching Klout and trying to work out how it calculates your score and whether it's a reliable indicator. I found out that even though I had 4 times more interactions, I had the same score as others, because I had too many people that I don't interact with at all. So weirdly, if I reduce my network, I'll have a higher score! I guess that makes sense? So I need to have a big cull - especially on Facebook!
