It’s hard to find the right words to describe this couple and their incredible day at Kurtz Orchard. It feels like any words we conjure manage to only barely scratch the surface of this powerful film.

There’s the ferris wheel, the classic Impala, the stroll through the vineyards at dusk with beautiful white horses, the tree-lined ceremony and tented reception amongst the vines. And in the heart of all of these awe-inspiring elements are Rachel + Lorne and their ability to naturally and candidly lose themselves in each other’s gaze. 🎡

In a little cabin in the middle of the Canadian wilderness, Fiona and Douglas spent the morning of their wedding day together. He steamed her dress; she got her make-up done. He played guitar; she sang as she got her hair done. When she was finished, they got dressed together and drove to their ceremony at the Ganaraska Forest Centre where, under the canopy sheltering them and their loved ones from the pouring rain, they exchanged personal vows. Together, they did away with just about every convention and tradition regarding bride and groom preparations — and it was absolutely magical. #weddingvideography #weddingcinematography

There was something that stayed with us from our very first meeting with Rubeeta. She wanted a #weddingcinematographer that could look beyond the grandness that can generally characterize south asian weddings. She wanted us to capture the stillness of the intimate moments amidst all the ceremonies, celebrations and performances. In short, she was speaking right to our hearts.

This was no difficult feat, either. Rubeeta and Narendra together exude that very stillness — a quiet calmness in which only they exist. It’s a magical, spiritual thing to behold.

Last fall, we drove up to Prince Edward County and made our way into the little church off the main road. What we filmed there is some of the most special footage we have ever captured. To this day, the warmth of Tara McMullen and Lachlan’s interactions fill our hearts and their laughter echoing off of the large chambers of their home puts the widest of smiles on our faces. It was a simple day - we built a fire, we ran around, sang, jumped on a bed, read and played with toy trains - but like all of our films, there’s a level of grandeur that comes from exploring the relationships at the heart of each story, and in this particular film, we took on the greatest bond of them all: that of a mother and her child. 👩‍👦✨

Last November, we got a crazy idea: let’s get a MōVI PRO. It was a thought that came from what was a bit of a frustrating year with the MōVI M5 - the more cables and accessories we added, the more we pushed its weight limit, and the more it fought us when trying to execute complex movements.

Today on the YouTube education channel, we talk about our experience with the MōVI PRO so far - what we like, what we don’t and how it fares against it’s little, older brother from the same mother.

We’re happy to resume our Youtube education channel as we tackle a question we get asked all the time: what's in our gear bag? The simple answer is: a lot. As wedding cinematographers, finding a case that could accommodate all the cameras, lenses and accessories we bring with us on each project was a key part of developing a faster shooting workflow while staying organized during hectic shoot days.

In this video, we take you on a tour of our main camera case, touching on the gear we use most and how we store and organize it all!

Dom and Mark's story encompasses so many different elements — family, acceptance, how they met, fell in love and ultimately married under a new last name which combines both of their former surnames. As convoluted as that all sounds, it makes for a beautifully simple and emotional narrative guided along by Dom and Mark’s love and the warmth of their family and friends whose elation and excitement for the celebration is evident in every single scene.

As Jess and Misha’s officiant, Tracey, so eloquently puts it near the opening of this wedding film: love can’t be defined by any single moment. It’s all the little moments. It’s every moment.

This is a sentiment that not only rings true for Jess and Misha, but also for their multi-layered narrative, which draws from their readings, cards and vows to create a piece that weaves together each moment from this incredible day. Whether it’s something as monumental as the couple’s choreographed hip-hop dance routine or something as spontaneous as Jess peaking out her hotel window to catch Misha and the groomsmen walking by, each moment — big or small — is a key component of this beautifully complex story.
