Meet up with my friend for her birthday brunch. We wanted a relaxing place to catch-up and good food. I normally shy away from the whole SoHo touristy area when it comes to eats but Delicatessen seemed like a good menu that made her happy, open airy space to enjoy the really amazing Saturday weather in NYC. The restaurant had a mix of locals and mostly tourists but they had a seat for two in the best traffic location in the restaurant as our semi-precious hostess with attitude seated us. Always the luck of architects as we call it. If there’s a worst seat we’ll get it. Our waiter swooped in give out the daily special and take our drinks. We decided to indulge and share a spinach/mushroom omelet and a buttermilk pancakes with chocolate and bananas. The omelet was pretty decent but kind of bland. The pancakes had the a great smooth texture. We didn’t even need the maple syrup as the bananas and chocolate was already sweet. I have to admit we enjoyed our brunch. The meal was satisfying. The ambiance was loud but still able to hold a conversation. The open, light filled eating space was good to enjoy the day. We were never rushed during or after our meals. I got a chance to catch-up with the birthday girl.

This place is great for comfort food, burgers in particular! It has a cozy atmosphere but it gets crowded very quickly. The burger was very juicy and came with fries. The fries were very thin and crispy, which went very well with the burger. Although the price can be high, the portions are big so you do get what you pay for in most cases.

Great food - Great service - Ruined by one very rude waiter We had lunch here on our first day in NYC - the food and service was actually great and we had a good experience This was totally ruined by one of the waiters (that actually hand't been serving us and the one who had was great) who basically told us we hadn't tipped enough and slammed the bill down on our table. We had had a great meal so were happy to tip more - we just were;[t used the system in NYC as in onion the tip is automatically added to the bill - it would have been nice to have this explained. Anyway, we tipped more happily as the food and out waitress were great but it really put a downer on the experience of us so much so that we would not go back - it was just massively impolite and not OK from an upmarket restaurant

My wife and I just ate at Delicatessen on Prince Street. We’ve eaten at Delicatessen on 7th Avenue and HK Kitchen many times and know that the atmosphere is great, the food consistently good, and the service unpredictable. The pickle served with my lunch sandwhich already had a bite taken from it. Doesn’t matter whether this was a re-served pickle, or the kitchen staff was having some fun at the clients’ expense, it was unacceptable. Worse yet was the wait staff’s reaction who, although appropriately apologetic, tried to convince us that the pickle was “just cut that way” (with tooth marks?). Even worse was the restaurant’s Manager who scolded me for complaining as though I was a 6 year old repeating stridently over my complaints: “we would never do that sir!, we would never do that sir!, we would never do that sir!”. Not the slightest offer of an apology from the manager. Finally, the bill came. Full price. $1 extra for the bread. 18% suggested tip. For the record, we did leave an 18% tip because our waitress was lovely about it and she was certainly not the one responsible for nibbling on my food.

Long story short, great food, if not a wide menu selection. The food is standard fare for NYC; small plates, everything covered in truffle oils, etc.. What makes this place great is the location, the quality of the food, the bar scene, and the size of the food. I balked at some of the prices, until I saw other food being delivered around me, and you definitely get a full bang for your buck. The french toast is decadent, in the best way possible, and the truffle ailoi fries were perfectly fried. Try to get an outdoor table (if you can!) and enjoy the city at it's finest.

This place is awesome because they have a $6 breakfast special.... with free coffee refills. It's pretty close to my work place too, so that's a big plus. Why I didn't give them 5 stars is because of their insanely slow service. Hey peeps, I have to start work and it's not the weekend -- how do you give a different table their food before us when she arrived after us? They either need more staff members or more attentive members... This would be a place that people film movies and television probably though haha so I felt classy there ;). My eggs weren't really overeasy, but just a fried egg...potatoes were good though yum yum. Potatoes and coffee I can live off of them.
