An AMAZING update from Jared:
"Are you ready?? I just received a call informing me that the Patient Selection Committee for the Cleveland Clinic just gave their approval for me to obtain a kidney transplant under their care and i will officially be added to the national waiting list tomorrow! Once I'm listed, they will then call my cousin to schedule his one day of testing and arrange surgery dates ASAP!" ‪#‎ENDPKD‬

"We found out that my husband had PKD in April of this year. Since then, we have decided to begin doing what we can to raise awareness, as well as money, for this rare yet extremely common disease. So many people have it, yet very few "normal people" have ever heard of it.... Including us!" --Randee, Team Brobst

Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) — one of the most common, life-threatening genetic diseases — strikes both adults and children. It often leads to the need for dialysis and a kidney transplant. It affects thousands in America and millions worldwide, who are in urgent need of treatments and a cure.

The Walk for PKD has become the signature event for funding programs of research, advocacy, education, support and awareness for polycystic kidney disease.

Event details TBA soon.

Why don’t many people know what PKD is? Read Valen's take on the subject.
When I think back to my PKD cyst bleed episodes in middle school and high school, I realize I did not talk to many people about what was happening to me. My parents, doctors and school nurse were the ones aware of my condition. If I were to talk on a personal level of what …

Introduction
ABOUT PKD:
Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) — one of the most common, life-threatening genetic diseases — strikes both adults and children. It often leads to the need for dialysis and a kidney transplant. It affects thousands in America and millions worldwide, who are in urgent need of treatments and a cure.

PKD causes numerous cysts to grow in the kidneys. These cysts are filled with fluid. If too many cysts grow or if they get too big, the kidneys can become damaged. PKD cysts can slowly replace much of the kidneys, reducing kidney function and leading to kidney failure.
