""It really feels like the cohousing movement and the national Association have taken a big step forward this year."
Jim Leach, Wonderland Hill and Silver Sage

Cohousing is good, we know this! Good for enhancing our lives, raising our children, supporting our seniors, creating resilient neighborhoods, and improving our environment.

If you are like me, you believe that cohousing is part of the solution to today’s social, economic and environmental challenges. And if you are part of a community, you recognize that we have created a legacy that will live on to support future individuals and families.

A great way to advance your belief and continue your legacy is to support Coho/US with a gift this year end. The association depends on your gifts to nurture our cohousing communities and inspire the growth of our movement."

Personally I object to the use of the word "block" as synonymous with "objection" and this entry explains some of the reasons why. What is a block? This is not a facetious question. If this is the word people want to use, what does it mean? From the accounts on the Cohousing-L email discussion ...

Neat!
Back before technology took over our lives with all its convenience, if we needed to borrow something, we'd simply go knock on our neighbor's door and ask politely. Sometimes, we'd even have standing agreements within our neighborhoods that it was okay to borrow things without asking. Sharing came naturally because it just made good sense. It's like that Miranda Lambert song: "Hey, whatever happened to waiting your turn, doing it all by hand, 'ca...

Hi all!

As you may know, we keep a community events calendar on cohousing.org: http://www.cohousing.org/events / http://www.cohousing.org/calendar

Events get on that calendar when folks submit them via a form - http://www.cohousing.org/events#submit - and then our wonderful volunteer Doug has been managing getting the info onto the google calendar.

It's not a large task, but it's an important one, and Doug needs to be done in the next couple weeks.

Interested in picking it up?  Is there someone in your community who might be?

Let me know, thanks!
What's new on the cohousing front in the North Bay area? North Bay Cohousing at Cotati has a .85-acre site under contract on Cotati's downtown edge ...

In the news... #cohousing
Despite obstacles like social norms, zoning laws and home design, communal living has a growing appeal for some people.
