Professor of Anthropology at Michigan State and an archaeologist.
Mostly interested in period of about AD 1000 in Eastern U.S., but I also work on historic period sites. A lot of my research has focused on the well-known Aztalan site in Wisconsin. I also work on the analysis of mortuary sites, and have done mortuary archaeology on both prehistoric and historic sites. Excavated historic Russian cemetery at Fort Ross in northern California, and worked at a historic cemetery in downtown Tucson, as well as a historic cemetery in Illinois.
I am also interested in bringing archaeology to the public in new and different ways. Most recently, I have developed and directed MSU's Campus Archaeology Program. See http://campusarch.msu.edu
