Would love the community's thoughts on Daniel Siegel's mindsight. It is an interesting concept, although I felt his book didnt have enough scientific studies to back up what he was talking about....thoughts?

Sounds like New Age Self-Help Mystical Yogi stuff not backed up by science to me. We know very little about the brain, and I've never heard of any credible studies that show enlargement of certain brain centers because those centers are exercised enough. There's no evidence that enlarged brain areas indicate higher than unusual capability in the attributes those brain centers supposedly contribute to. From what I've read, the brain is too complex for this kind of analysis.

there are actually hundreds of research studies out there that can back that up.
Richard Davidson and Matthieu Ricard raised public awareness couple of years ago already

Transform Your Mind, Change Your Brain

so certainly no “new age mystical yogi stuff”
The only thing new here is the term “mindsight”, which Siegel uses instead of “meditation”
