Shameless self promotion but, still plugging away on the sci-fi story that's been acting as relaxation therapy for me. Progress has slowed, but let's be real here... Who cares? It's a fun hobby for me and good practice. As always, if anyone has any comments or suggestions, please feel free to share, I love learning the art of creative writing.

Is change REALLY THAT SCARY? Downloading an unsupported and security flawed operating system when there's thousands of choices of Linux? Such a terrible fragmentation is happening now between the massive advances in small wearable tech and mobile verses, and this set in stone refusal to budge mentality on desktops. No wonder desktop is dying...

My post will be totally unrelated to that pic below (yes it's an experiment): In Windows it pays knowing all about the default launched services. They're different from Win 7 to 8.1 (and XP for some of my clients). Usually you can bring RAM usage in Windows from around 700-800 Mb to 450 MB by carefully optimizing the startup items and services. Trust me that will make a bloated computer behave like a new one in most cases (of course first clean with AdwCleaner, these days most problems are from Adware not from viruses). Android is like Linux, in a lot of ways. Optimization passes by removing unused apps. I have a clear idea of Lxtask showing Linux processes and how it's not really necessary to kill a daemon using 100 Kb (yes Kylobytes) of RAM. Android is built on Linux foundations, it's already streamlined and thin. No need for Windows geeks like me and that's the right way to go, people shouldn't have to worry about computer management at all, but sadly Windows 8.1 still requires guys like me to optimize the default configuration. Not so with Android. I only wish that Google makes a desktop Android version. Android 6, desktop edition. We all need it badly (moving away from paying 120 bucks for your operative system? Please give it to us!).
Windows XP is no longer receiving updates and security patches from Microsoft, but it's pretty clear that not everyone is ready to give up on it....
