It's unfortunate that in the same way spoilers can ruin a movie, knowing a restaurant has a michelin star can set expectations that are almost never met. My meal at Boulevard was great, it really was. A pork chop cooked perfectly, well brined, juicy but still crisp fatty exterior, and a sweet, starchy puree to accompany, a classic pairing. The cocktail menu was also not overwhelming but enough selection for anyone. And the decor was clever, a little overstated but homey nonetheless. I might bring an out-of-towner in search for a good comfort meal with a fine dining element, but I wouldn't have guessed it had a michelin star.

Atmosphere is great! If you're seated near the windows you get an amazing view of the bay bridge. I've also been seated in the middle of the restaurant and the experience was just as good. The food is cooked to perfection, the last time I went I had the salmon and it was lovely.

I'll start out by saying I'm not a very fancy person, so it was unusual for me to eat at such a fancy restaurant. The food was delicious and the decor and atmosphere were upscale, but I just hate paying so much for small portions. I was especially disappointed with the size of the buffalo milk cheesecake. It was delicious, but for the price, I thought it would be a typical sized slice - not a thin sliver with crust shavings instead of a real crust. It was nice for a fancy place, but just not really my style of restaurant.

The atmosphere was a bit old and stuffy but its a well known and very nice restaurant. The food was excellent and the staff was knowledgable, attentive and a pleasure to enter act with. I really enjoyed the food, drinks and just the atmosphere. Its a bit old fashioned but still fun!

Nancy Oakes' "jewel of the Embarcadero" "continues to be a legend", boasting an "amazing view of the Bay Bridge" and belle epoque decor as a backdrop for "superb" locavore American meals matched by a "deep" wine list and delivered by an "impeccable" staff that treats diners "like royalty"; it's "always packed" (ergo "noisy"), but whether you "sit at the counter and watch the chefs do their thing" or perch at the bar for drinks and "interesting people-watching", it remains the "go-to" for everything from business lunches to special occasions that "you won't forget." Learn more about Boulevard. What to order Spicy sesame ahi tuna tartare Sea scallop (pictured) Bittersweet chocolate caramel s'more Insider tip: Request tables closest to the front windows facing the Embarcadero for shimmering Bay Bridge views.

A really fun, hip, colorful interior greets you at the start. This is one of those landmark San Francsico spots that I go back to again and again for special occasions and I am never disappointed. The ambiance is divine, Nancy Oaks food is to die for, specials are updated daily. Attentive staff all around, clean restrooms. If you can't afford the dinner, go for dessert...simply amazing!

We have a goal: visiting 1-2 Michelin rated restaurants a year. Sometimes we meet our goal and sometimes we don't. Hubs had a birthday, it was the perfect excuse to go grab dinner at a special restaurant. Often with these restaurants you are having an experience, sometimes it's one that you treasure but don't necessarily need to repeat, sometimes it's one that you treasure, and would gladly repeat. Boulevard offered us an experience we will happily repeat. We thought (eeeeek... sorry Boulevard) that it might be stuffy and over-rated. We were wrong, so wrong. Boulevard delivered. The interior is beautiful, in a way it's like a stage set, but a real-life working one. I like the open kitchen concept, it's nice to see the kitchen working away. Another plus, the chef de cuisine and the chef/owner are women, and there were women in the kitchen. Our server was very professional, but without pretension. She was warm and friendly, and offered fantastic recommendations upon request (sorry I don't have her name, she was young blond, awesome, working near the kitchen on Friday 7/11/14). And then there was the food. The food was so very good. We had: Scallops: 5/5 stars Delicious, perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned. As the offerings in the restaurant are seasonal, the accompaniments will change, but the scallops I will still be perfect. Corn Ravioli with truffles: 4/5 The corn was wonderful, the ravioli dough was a little too much. Pork Chop: 5/5 This was the best pork chop I have ever eaten. Ever. Perfectly cooked, we ate every last bite. It was divine. Sea Bass 5/5 Poor sea bass. You were excellent, but you had to go up against the pork chop. Honestly, the sea bass was wonderful, that pork chop was just. so. good. Butterscotch Pudding 5/5 Delicious. If I ordered it again, I'd hold the chocolate. Cheese Plate 5/5 Hubs ordered The Bomb and something else. They were both wonderful. Thank you Boulevard for such a spectacular meal. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of amazing restaurants in the bay area that are not rated which are amazing and we love them too. It's fun to get out every now and then to see what all the fuss is about. So far we've been to six Michelin rated restaurants. Boulevard is one of two rated restaurants that we would go back to (Aziza is the other). The whole experience was wonderful.

Fantastic King Salmon, nice atmosphere and mesmerising view of the kitchen. I was sat down by the Chef's Counter to enjoy watching how fresh, raw ingredients get transformed into beautiful, delicious dishes. Exactly the right place you want to go if you're by yourself in SF, hungry and jetlagged after a 10h flight A bit on the posh side, though.
