Almost two full years ago, I received an email from Gennady, who had read my book, "Demystifying the TLC5940", and wanted to incorporate the library into his own project, but using a more powerful chip than an ATmega328P.

After many emails back and forth, he adapted my library to other microcontrollers, built his own 3D RGB LED cube, and finally he created his own RGB LED "tablet", and then wrote a bunch of cool games for it. It's really awesome!

This is the video he sent me:

I used the chisel that I hand forged back in high school to carefully break open the geode I received for my birthday. This is what was inside!

This is the first in a series of "Let's Code" style programming videos I'm planning on making for the Uzebox video game console. If you've ever thought it would be fun to create your own retro game that can run on real 8-bit hardware, or you are just curious how it's done, this is for you!

Last year I purchased a Uzebox kit, which is an open source 8-bit microcontroller-based gaming console, and then I spent the next few months programming an arcade-like platformer game for it.

For all those people who don't want (or don't have the equipment and/or patience) to solder up a kit of their own, a friend of mine designed and built a version of the Uzebox that fits entirely inside a Super Nintendo controller!

(I have been playing with an early prototype, and it's superbly awesome, and very well crafted.)

So after many months of smacking my LG Nexus 5 to get the power button unstuck before it reboots the phone, it finally got permanently stuck in the "pressed" position. This caused the phone to bootloop endlessly, showing nothing but the Google logo.

Not to be outdone, I removed its motherboard, de-soldered the broken switch, and performed a quick hackjob to get it back up and running immediately.

It's not the prettiest thing in the world, but it does make an extremely satisfying CLICK sound, every time I press my new power button.

The first photo below was at taken at 100x magnification.

The sunlight looked pretty cool outside the office window yesterday evening, so I decided to take an HDR+ photo with my Nexus 5.

I walked outside to see the #Camelopardalids meteor shower, but with the light pollution I was only able to see one very bright streak in roughly 10 minutes of staring up at the night sky.

I got to make a wish on it, so I'm happy!

This is the first time I've ever bought a video game based solely on the voice actress: Tara Strong.
