For any of you roleplayers out there a taste for forum-style games or PbP, I can highly recommend the Storium project on kickstarter.  I'm currently in a number of games (both narrating and playing) and the loose, card-based system coupled with the naturally free-form nature of a web-based RPG is really appealing :)

I thought it might be handy to start a quick thread on the topic of "Tips For Narrators".   Here's mine so far to kick off:

1. Decide what sort of game you want to run and communicate that in the game drescription.  The more that potential players know the more likely you are to have folks who want to play your style of game.
2. Make the cards work for you - customise them to fit the game you want.
3. Use artwork/photos where you can - it adds a lot of flavour if you can find ones that suit your game.
4. Keep an eye out for players who need more narrator input than others and give them the input they need.

Interestingly I'm playing 4 games now and every time I play in one I think, "Oooh - this is the ideal way to use storium".  I'm starting to come to the conclusion that it suits a number of styles of storytelling very well.  In particular it seems to suit both games with a heavy narrator<->player dynamic and ones that are much more player<->player centric :)

That's really odd.  It doesn't feel right looking at Wentworth bar and it looking like anything other than a somewhat drab train station...

Liking the new look :)

Hi,

Just chanced upon this community and I have to say that it's looking really great.  I tend to like general systems (like FATE) from the lazy perspective of learn-once-apply-lots but occasionally something grabs me and pulls me in.

This is most definitely the case with what I've seen of Vanguard :)  The design seems beautifully consistent between different entities (characters, ships etc) and it positively drips with the sci-fi elements I love :)

Really looking forward to seeing more :)
