Emily's posts

It has been exactly 100 years since Albert Einstein presented his theory of general relativity to an audience of scientists on November 25, 1915.

In referencing the death of a friend, Einstein wrote about the impact of spacetime on our lives.  "Now he has departed from this strange world a little ahead of me. That means nothing. People like us, who believe in physics, know that the distinction between past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion."

I love that.

So, these are the 116 images that Carl Sagan sent to space on the Voyager Golden Records for extra terrestrials to find.  Pretty interesting.

Been reading about panspermia this morning, and it occurred to me that maybe we should be seeding the universe with the makings of life.  We could make small meteorites which contain the materials and send them out travelling in space in the hopes that they eventually impact a planet capable of incubating them into various lifeforms.  Wouldn't that be cool?
