My interview with Joyce Chung

“I have a sense of the chasm between big companies and startups and innovation, and there is sort of just a mental disconnect… what we have found is that the corporations are actually very interested in innovation and entrepreneurship, and this is the future of their businesses. But, its very hard for them to understand how to work with entrepreneurs. And conversely, entrepreneurs on some levels would love to have the validation, financing, and support of a big company, but they work on a totally different timescale and mindset… they both have a very difficult time figuring out how to make that work.”

My interview with  Rafah Alkatib at technology in a tent.

In their discussion Nima asked how she got started on the right foot in business.

“There were actually not popular resources or ecosystems, I hadn’t at that time any type of mentor ship or someone who was advising me”

Nima went on to ask how she knew the right steps to take.

“First of all I participated in conferences on entrepreneurship, any lecture, any workshop, any conference, any seminar, online, offline, Beirut, Riyadh, Dubai, Jordan, Amman… wherever there is an opportunity I was always there.”

My interview with  Steve Blank at Technology in
 a Tent

“In a startup we actually go from failure to failure, and that’s a big idea that we didn’t embrace before. Startups don’t unfold by the nice plan we use to write, what we used to assume is that startups unfold the same way that large companies do… It took us 50 years to say that a startup is not a smaller version of large company. We used to execute startups just like the largest companies known of. A startup is very different, it has a series of unknowns. What were really doing in a startup is searching for a business model.”
