Elk Castle Shooting Sports first opened its doors for business in 1947 when WWII Airman Malcolm Cross returned from duty in the Pacific to join his father Ewell. They opened Ewell Cross Gun Shop in the east side of Fort Worth, TX, and ran a premier gun business for 31 years before relocating to the fast growing west side in 1978.

Despite losing his father, Malcolm built a solid business with a reputation for fairness and expertise, but was ready to retire by the early ‘90’s. Local businessman and gun enthusiast Eric Walsh undertook ownership and management of the store in 1994, and the name was changed to Elk Castle Shooting Sports. It has operated as a full service gun store under the same family management since then.

Elk Castle is located on Interstate 30, just west of Downtown Ft. Worth, and specializes in new and used firearms, scopes, ammunition, handloading supplies, a full line of accessories, and complete Gunsmithing services

In 2005, Elk Castle opened a state-of-the-art public indoor Pistol/Rifle range that has grown to be an integral part of the success of the business today.

Elk Castle is Ft. Worth’s premier firearms dealer. You can browse the selection of new, used, and consignment firearms, scopes and accessories, or special order an item. Feel free to drop off your own gun for customization or repair work at the gunsmith counter, or try out a pistol on the range BEFORE you buy it.

In January of 2009, Elk Castle opened its gun inventory to the internet, and now ships firearms to all 50 states.

Elk Castle offers services for Estate Liquidation, Warranty Gunsmithing, Appraisals, and Insurance Claims. The business has always taken pride in offering courteous, professional service, as well as being honest in educating the gun buyer.

Awesome place, very affordable if you come and rent guns and the ammo price arent too bad. I showed up with a groupon but even if I didn't have a groupon I'd still come back. The range allows for shotguns and pistols, I think I heard the safety officer stating they didn't allow rifles. I was pretty new to shooting and they guys took their time to show me the basics. I will definitely return.

best customer service I've had not only in a gun shop but period. the staff was extremely knowledgeable. they also have a honest approach. i did feel like they where trying to "sale" me a gun but rather help me find the right thing for me. i never wright reviews so for me to do one for this place it has to be something special.

Great place to shop and shoot. Employees have always been helpful when I go in. Range is priced great, range master is very cool and helpful for folks new to guns. He explained everything to my fiancé since it was her first time and really emphasized on safety (which is awesome) Over all don't know of a place id rather go. Yes their prices are a little more than academy but I like supporting the smaller businesses especially ones that do a great job...so 5%-10% over is fine for me cause I know if I have an issue they wont just tell you "well send it back to manufacturer" See a lot of people griping about $50 ffl transfer fees...you could actually go get your own FFL instead of bitching about what someone charges for their services. If I had to do the leg work with the ATF on a gun you did not buy from me I would be taxing you too, I like the guy who thinks Gun Shows are discounted prices..lol...must be a tourist cause prices at the gun show are like food prices at the Stock Show. Anyway just wanted to say this place is awesome and we all know usually only pissed off people who have to much time on their hands write reviews with the exception of a few. Keep doing what you do Elks Castle..

The staff was very helpful, to-the-point, and always available when asked for any help, inside or outside the shooting range. Great first experience overall.

This has become my new favorite gun range! The staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgable. The range is excellent, well lit and maintained. I've had issues with other ranges not having enough A/C in the summer time but climate control is not an issue here. The range fees are cheaper than most as well. I bought a used Springfield XDm .40 and got a great price. They even installed the Tru Glo sights I bought for free. Gun prices are better than most shops including big box stores like Gander Mountain and you can't beat the selection. If you're in the market to purchase a firearm ask for Brandon and he will hook you up!

I've only shot a few times with my grandpa and my neighbor. My neighbor is the one who had recommended that I come here and rent a gun so I could shoot some and see what I liked. Walked in to the range and met Kyle. Told him I wanted to shoot. After shooting every handgun, he always told me what he liked/disliked about each one. It helped me to get a little more familiar with each of the guns. Good place to go if you want to learn. And it seemed like it was pretty cheap. The lane cost $15.00, and the 9mm ammo is about the same price for 50 rounds.

Very poor customer service. Or should I say no customer service. Went in there, stood at back counter for many min. While guy was on phone. When he got off the phone he went to back and never came out. I walked around a bit and still no service. Even had my pistol in hand. I needed sights installed. They wont be getting any recommendations or business from me. I finally left thinking that's 30 min of my life I wont get back.
