Infrared at Kingston lacey
A family day out at the fancy National Trust estate called Kingston Lacey . I decided to challenge myself with infrared by bringing only the infrared camera with me. I didn't have any real plan as such, just wanted to see what I could do. I did have hopes t...

Infra-red with a Nikon D90
So I took the plunge and invested in a modded Infra-red camera. Shortly after selling my old Nikon D90 I've gone and bought another one of the familiar old friends with the aforementioned Infra-red modification made to it. In case you are unaware of what th...

monochromatic

Had a lot of trouble this week as I'd set myself the challenge of shooting in infrared. (Not least of all because I was making a stupid error)
This is one of the better ones from my attempts, a shot of my garden on a brightly lit Sunday afternoon.

#wpc2014  dead center
I think this works for the challenge?
The light of the lighthouse is dead centre which was the intention.
The photo was a bit of a fail to be honest, I was trying to use my astronomical knowledge to line up Polaris behind the light so I could do a nice star trail shot with perfect circles around the lighthouse but missed it by a fair ol' margin, I think I might've hit Ursa Minor instead...(Was a bit academic really as my tripod also failed and the camera sank for the duration of the sequence)

The challenge for the week of  July 14 - July 20th (Mon to Sun) is Leading Lines.
Theme is  by +Sheila B. DuBois

This is not what I was expecting to submit this week. I imagined it'd be a line of railway track, an interesting pattern/texture or the edging of a straight edged thing lining up with another interesting thing depending on what caught my eye. If nothing else, I know of a jetty that faces into an interest body of water and that  tends to work well.

Somehow though this is the one I like, not a straight line but a sort of 's' shape formed by the foregrounds rocks and leading you into the background coastal line.
I snapped this pretty hurriedly on a ludicrously windy day on a bit of coast i've not explored before, almost entirely just so I could plot future photo opportunities for the location.

So then, final round of the GizmodoUK shooting challenge where I've really got to aim for a 1st place to have a chance at a win really. It's been a tough week balancing work/family and social commitments so have had to stick to 'studio' work for the most pa...

Gizmodo Four Round Photo Challenge: Round 3
My short list of contenders for Round 4 of Gizmodo's shooting challenge. I've already posted about these shots in full separately. UV1 , UV2 , Jar . I picked the last Jar shot as it is sharpest and most vibrant I thought. I got 2 Points putting me at joint ...

Pandora's cookie jar...
The weather is still not so great here and I've still got an itch to shoot something so I decided to follow through with what I said in my past blog post  where I tried out a new tool for light painting called 'EL Wire' which is electroluminescent wire. It'...
