Strategy is where it all begins
+Stephan Hovnanian lays out an in-depth explanation of what goes into a proper social media posting strategy. These guidelines will help you cut through a lot of the noise and pressure to be posting and sharing for the sake of posting and sharing. Great work.

Are you fishing for the right strategy when it comes to posting on social media?
There are countless how-to guides and best practices articles on this subject. Some of the best are written by people you know and love like +Dustin W. Stout, +Mike Allton, +Peg Fitzpatrick, +Daniel Sharkov and +Rebekah Radice

Just like choosing the best time to post on social media, several factors contribute to what will truly constitute a successful post for you on your profile or page. Each format and strategy has its own pros and cons, and it’s up to you to pick which combinations of images, links, questions and calls to action best fit your goal for the post.

My latest article explores these very issues:
http://www.websighthangouts.com/best-social-media-posting-strategy/

Warning: it qualifies as epic shit, weighing in at over 2,100 words.

When you make it to the end, and you will, I promise you will be equipped to create social media posts that completely blow the socks off of everyone, but most importantly, YOURSELF

Does your website work for you like a top employee would?
This is an excellent take on what makes a website successful. Like +Stephan Hovnanian said, the sum of the whole is greater than its parts. Having a complete, cohesive strategy that ties everything about your online presence together is the only thing that you need to have a successful web presence. From there everything falls into place. Great piece.

I pulled together insights from seven web professionals to give you our perspective on where businesses miss the mark on their websites. This is gold for those of you just about to get started on a project!

So, from  +Dustin W. Stout +Richelle Anderson +Angel Perez +Gary Martin +Ralph M. Rivera +Gina Fiedel and +Stephan Hovnanian (me!), thanks for reading!

Google+ Tips/Strategies  -

Excellent tips from +Stephan Hovnanian on optimizing your Google+ cover image for SEO.

You should be incorporating these, especially the first one about filenames, into all your blogging and image marketing. Even thumbnails from the links we share on Google+ are indexed in Image search...and clicking on them actually takes you directly to your blog post.

Are you optimizing your Google Plus Cover for SEO?
I've compiled some tips and examples of how to take advantage of Google Image Search and the images you post to Google Plus.

A cover photo links to your Google Plus profile, while a Photo post links to the post itself. Chew on that as you think of ways to utilize your cover for SEO and marketing. Oh, and what about an #autoawesome  cover? I reveal a clever little nugget of an idea for you in the article. Enjoy!

Google+ Tips/Strategies  -

Excellent search tips from +Stephan Hovnanian for Google+. The in:plus.google.com one on regular Google search for finding time-based posts is a huge help.

Google Plus Search Tips
How to find conversations, create recaps, monitor brand keywords

In this post, I'll show you how to:
- Find conversations between you and another user
- Look up the last time you posted about something
- Time-based search (e.g. "last week")
- Competitor monitoring
- Brand listening

...and more

Even though Google basically wrote the book on search, it can be difficult to search within its own social network when you're looking for something very specific. Hopefully this post will give you some tools to find exactly what you're looking for!

Is your Google+ Profile Optimized? I mean, really optimized?
► If you're a believer in the idea that Google+ is more than just a social network, that its ultimate goal is to help Google deliver a richer experience to us when we're searching the web, then this article is for you.

► If you are here to build up a footprint of content centered around your area of expertise, then you need to read this.

► If you are struggling with the fact you can use Google+ to reach your target audience, even if they aren't on Google+ itself, then this article will help drive that point home. And it's an important one, if you care about marketing for yourself or your brand page.

Email Marketing techniques for your Google+ Notification circles
I'm seeing a lot of people creating notification circles these days. Heck, I'm doing it too. As your influence grows in a particular niche, these types of circles can be amazingly powerful, helping you get the word out to targeted individuals who are interested in what you have to say.

But as they say, With great power comes great responsibility. In the post below I outline some very important tips on how to manage these circles, treating them like one would treat an email list. The two aren't the same, but the principles are there. I encourage you to check this out and pass it along to anyone who uses notification circles.

Brand monitoring on Google Plus
Incredibly important information for large and small businesses about social listening, keyword monitoring and more on Google Plus. Because the public API doesn't currently allow keyword monitoring, your page managers have to be logged into G+. That could be why brands aren't as quick on the uptake as they are with other social networks like Twitter. However, you'll see in the article why neglecting G+ could be really bad for business.

via +Stephan Hovnanian and +Mike Allton

Are people talking behind your back?

It's happened to all of us. As individuals, it's annoying and sometimes hurtful, but we get over it. As brands, it's an entirely different scope of problem (or opportunity!).

When customers begin to complain about your business to their friends and contacts, that can really tarnish your image. And when it's done on social media, the effects can be devastating.

As a result, the concept of "Social Listening" has evolved. Smart brands pay attention to what is being said about them online, positive or negative, and respond accordingly.

Tools and methods have been around for a while now for platforms like Twitter, but what about Google+? Fortunately, +Stephan Hovnanian has you covered. He provides a more in-depth explanation for the need for social media monitoring, and then outlines exactly how to do it on Google+. He then offers two great examples, one of what not to do compliments of +Jesse Wojdylo, and one positive example to emulate from +Sprout Social.

Please take a look at today's article and let me know what you think, and specifically, are you currently monitoring your brand on Google+ or other social networks? Why or why not?

Thanks for reading!
