Introduction

Marissa Alter joined the WLKY news team in February 2011 and has loved exploring all Louisville has to offer since then.

Marissa grew up in Connecticut and graduated from Cornell University with a degree in American Studies. She got the news bug while studying in Washington, D.C., for a semester and taking an internship at CBS Evening News. After graduation, she went back to the capital and worked at CNN for a year before returning to school for a graduate degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University.

She comes to Louisville from WREX-TV, the NBC affiliate in Rockford, Ill., where she was a reporter and anchor.

When not at work, Marissa enjoys running, checking out local restaurants, and spending time with friends and family. She’s also a big New York Yankees fan. Since moving here, she's found a new hobby for baseball's off-season: following college basketball. Along with March Madness, the Derby is her favorite time in Louisville.

Marissa enjoys hearing from viewers. If you have a story idea or just want to say hi, email Marissa here or follow her on Twitter and like her on Facebook.
