Introduction
As a regionally recognized water resources practitioner and leader for 30 years, as well as natural resource journalist, provide effective regulatory and scientific expertise for public and private sector clients, with a commitment to equitable and sustainable solutions to complex projects. Critical deliverables include assessment, feasibility studies, regulatory compliance, and deliberative as well as freelance published works.

In private consulting practice since 2001 as Associate and Director of Environmental Services for two civil engineering firms and currently principal of own consulting firm Andrew T. Der & Associates, LLC. Co-authored books and published articles in topics of environmental science concurrently expanding into well-established freelance travel destination journalism for mainstream audiences. Previously completed 17 years of service with the government as a manager successfully leading major new initiatives to regulate and restore Chesapeake Bay water resources.

Concurrently established an accomplished consultancy for donor programs and by membership on committees, presenter at industry and continuing education seminars, and expert in legal proceedings and media interviews. Appointed member of the Citizens Advisory Committee to the Chesapeake Bay Program Executive Council and Montgomery County Forest Conservation Advisory Committee, MD; and on-call faculty for Lorman Educational Services.
