Have you designed your product or service to fit into a customer need? Or is it to suit your taste?

Passionate Entrepreneur... You probably own a pair of jeans trousers or shorts or even a suit.... Okey.... how easy was it to get the right fit? You may have tried out quite a few times and almost gave up...

Well, that’s the problem our Passionate Entrepreneur of the day sought to solve... by first understanding the customers he was designing for.

Let us welcome Mr. Andrew Kio, Blacjack Jeans Limited founder and his take on the role played by customer shapes and climate in his business as covered in this quote from the Founder Magazine...

“We have developed an African size for sale in the mass market. After all these years, I know the way to cut and design jeans for the different body types of the African woman.

“For the coast of Kenya, I would design shorts or light jeans [to suit the hot climate]; in Central Kenya I would make slim jeans; and (in the lake city of) Kisumu I would distribute more curvaceous jeans,” says Kio.

Over to you Passionate Entrepreneur...

1. Would you need to suit your solution to a “certain climate’? This climate could be related to weather as we see in this case or it could be related to the political, economic, social, or technological (PEST) state of the target market

2. Do you need to “slim fit” the solution for a certain target market?

3. Alternatively, do you need to add some more cloth for the “curvaceous fit”

Or would you be having any questions regarding today’s issue? You’re your query to Virginia on I will be glad to respond....

What is the entrepreneur’s view of the many problems facing Kenya and Africa?

Dear Passionate Entrepreneur

If you are listening or watching THE news, you are most likely to be fed with news that relates to either a political, business, social, spiritual, etc. problem.

And there seems to be no end to these problems. When one is solved or even before a solution is found, another one crops up...

Our Passionate entrepreneur of the day is Mr. Kariuki Gathitu founder M-PAYER, a mobile and web solution that enables businesses to accept and track payments whether on mobile platform or cash.

And now to his take on the problems that our society faces as quoted by www dot parentsafrica dotcom....

“Kenya and Africa have so many problems. This will either excite or depress you depending on who you are. It excites me as an entrepreneur because problems are opportunities. You are also put here on earth for a reason. Leave a legacy of some sort.”

My view..... Entrepreneurs ride the problem “waves” and turn them into opportunities that will get them to leave great legacies...

Over to you Passionate Entrepreneur, how are you turning the problem around your area of interest into opportunities?

Customer /sales objection, So what if the customer said No.... and you want to take the first bus out of town....

Before you take that bus, let us be clear that you do not start selling until the customer says NO... and if the NOs annoy you, then sales is not your area of brilliance....delegate the sales task to someone who just gets excited when a NO appears....

Let us meet the Passionate Entrepreneur of the day Mr. Trushar Khetia and get his take on that NO.

Khetia is a serial entrepreneur. He is the founder of Tria Transit Media, an outdoor advertising firm that uses public transit vehicles, modern bus shelter advertising, mall, retail in-store and experiential media as channels to advertise products/ services in Kenya.

Khetia is also the founder of Society Stores, a supermarket chain with six outlets in Thika, Maua, Meru, Naivasha, Kayole and Limuru.

Mind you this gentleman is only 30 years old and he founded his first business Tria, in 2013! Only 4 years ago!

In an interview with the Founder magazine, listen to what he has to say regarding that infamous NO;

“Getting people to accept any new idea or business is never easy. You have to be persistent, patient and persuasive. For Tria initially, we got so many NOs and rejections where companies wanted others to first try the idea before they were convinced. But we never gave up. We would learn from the rejection to only pinch in a stronger way next time. Now the very same clients that said no are the ones calling us!”

In Summary;
1. Breath in, breath out....People do not easily accept new ideas, concepts or business. You will certainly meet Mr. / Miss NO. No harm meant, people just fear making the wrong decisions. And they invited you for the meeting which means they are interested. Maybe they are just NOT READY, YET

2. As you prepare your sales armor aka your sales kit, follow Khetia’s advice. Never leave behind persistence, patience and persuasion. And throw in a good sense of humor too...... You will absolutely need it!

3. Clarify which part of your solution, your sales skills your presentation or YOURSELF the prospect is saying NO to. Ask, Ask, Ask

4. That NO may actually be for your own good- there might be a feature that badly needs improvement for your solution to work perfectly. And that prospect has just saved you from an expensive mistake and future anguish. Improve your solution, your sales skills, presentation or yourself and confidently make the next sales call.... No wonder Vironika Tugaleva said that “Sometimes "No" is the kindest word.”

5. Keep knocking- for there will always be some people who will quickly connect to your solution... the early adopters are God-sent- to embrace your idea and lift your spirits on the way to living your entrepreneurial purpose

6. Keep all doors and windows open, those who said NO will soon come calling. Remember they are a little shy because they snubbed you... make it easy for them to get in touch
Over to you Passionate Entrepreneur, how do you handle Mr. / Miss NO?

Kenyan start-ups: How to actualise a business idea with "minimal" capital

“I have a business idea and no capital.....”

This is a statement that keeps cropping up in various platforms. ...including this one

Whereas every start-up does need capital, the Entrepreneur’s ingenuity and personal drive will enormously contribute to how much is actually needed and how the capital is raised. In the meantime, let’s ...

Start working on you first.....

Who are you and who do you want to be? Do you really want to be an entrepreneur and why? Are you just in love with the idea or are you are following a fad, wave or a herd? Are you ready to sweat it out and burn the midnight oil?
Are you ready to build mutual relationships and networks? Are you ready to develop strategic partnerships to complement talents and resources that are deficient? Are you willing to round up your network of family, friends, friends of friends, colleagues, association/chama members, suppliers, buyers? Then follow this link for more details...

What is the possibility of surpassing your sales and profit targets by the end of the year starting now?
It may be likely or unlikely depending on your previous or current performance
Or you could place that at 100%
Because you would have eliminated the bottlenecks that are stopping you from meeting the desired performance...
Because you will be having more customers than you have now...
Because the customers you have now will be buying more, more often and happily referring others to your business,,,

Because you will have in place a system that maximizes and optimizes the performance of the resources at your disposal...
Because your creative juices will be overflowing with new ideas.....
And because you would have been enabled to achieve the above through our “#Structure Your Business to Drive Profitable Sales” Program....

Is it true that there are no clocks in casinos? And that there are no windows too?

Passionate Entrepreneur... That’s a great strategy for the Casino entrepreneurs to encourage customers to lose track of time ... and gamble some more...

But there is a different lesson we learn from the clock....
"Don't watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going." Sam Levenson

When tempted to give up... keep going. But while progressing, Coco Chanel would also chip in a word of advice;

“Don't spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door. ” Coco Chanel

Over to you Passionate Entrepreneur... how do you determine you are beating a wall?

What choices do you make every morning?

Well, there is this one--- between sleep and that job or is it work?

Our Passionate Entrepreneur of the day is Abraham Mbuthia, Director- CLEM Creative Computing Limited This business offers IT Solutions in Kenya and Tanzania and reading through an article published in the Founder magazine , this quote clearly caught my attention.

“Every morning, you have two choices, continue your sleep with dreams or wake up and chase your dreams. Choice is yours. The way I see it, if you do not build your dreams, someone else will hire you to build theirs. Fact is: a dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work. If you do not know what to do with your life, do something that saves lives. The world is full of people in ‘need’ be part of their life that fills that ‘need’. The only way to do great work is to love what you do and do what you love. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking, don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you will know when you find it. Lastly, remember the quote in Think and grow Rich by Napoleon Hill ‘All achievement, all earned riches, have their beginning in an idea.”
In Summary;
1. Dawn choice... continue dreaming or get up and chase the dream
2. Chasing the dream=work
3. You can build your dream or you can assist others to build theirs
4. People are in need... Your work is to identify the need and profitably satisfy it aka have the right solution, at the right place, at the right time
5. Do what you love and love what you do
6. The idea that is born from the combination of what you love and a customer need will get you rich .....

Does that make it easy to make that dawn choice?

If you made the choice to build your business, we can assist you #StructureYourBusinessToDriveProfitableSales resulting in more money and less work while positively impacting your business and personal lifestyle.
