Let us welcome Mr. Andrew Kio, Blacjack Jeans Limited founder and his take on the role played by customer shapes and climate in his business as covered in this quote from the Founder Magazine...

“We have developed an African size for sale in the mass market. After all these years, I know the way to cut and design jeans for the different body types of the African woman.

“For the coast of Kenya, I would design shorts or light jeans [to suit the hot climate]; in Central Kenya I would make slim jeans; and (in the lake city of) Kisumu I would distribute more curvaceous jeans,” says Kio.

Customer /sales objection, So what if the customer said No.... and you want to take the first bus out of town....

Before you take that bus, let us be clear that you do not start selling until the customer says NO... and if the NOs annoy you, then sales is not your area of brilliance....delegate the sales task to someone who just gets excited when a NO appears....

Let us meet the Passionate Entrepreneur of the day Mr. Trushar Khetia and get his take on that NO.

Khetia is a serial entrepreneur. He is the founder of Tria Transit Media, an outdoor advertising firm that uses public transit vehicles, modern bus shelter advertising, mall, retail in-store and experiential media as channels to advertise products/ services in Kenya.

Khetia is also the founder of Society Stores, a supermarket chain with six outlets in Thika, Maua, Meru, Naivasha, Kayole and Limuru.

Mind you this gentleman is only 30 years old and he founded his first business Tria, in 2013! Only 4 years ago!

In an interview with the Founder magazine, listen to what he has to say regarding that infamous NO;

“Getting people to accept any new idea or business is never easy. You have to be persistent, patient and persuasive. For Tria initially, we got so many NOs and rejections where companies wanted others to first try the idea before they were convinced. But we never gave up. We would learn from the rejection to only pinch in a stronger way next time. Now the very same clients that said no are the ones calling us!”

In Summary;
1. Breath in, breath out....People do not easily accept new ideas, concepts or business. You will certainly meet Mr. / Miss NO. No harm meant, people just fear making the wrong decisions. And they invited you for the meeting which means they are interested. Maybe they are just NOT READY, YET

2. As you prepare your sales armor aka your sales kit, follow Khetia’s advice. Never leave behind persistence, patience and persuasion. And throw in a good sense of humor too...... You will absolutely need it!

3. Clarify which part of your solution, your sales skills your presentation or YOURSELF the prospect is saying NO to. Ask, Ask, Ask

4. That NO may actually be for your own good- there might be a feature that badly needs improvement for your solution to work perfectly. And that prospect has just saved you from an expensive mistake and future anguish. Improve your solution, your sales skills, presentation or yourself and confidently make the next sales call.... No wonder Vironika Tugaleva said that “Sometimes "No" is the kindest word.”

5. Keep knocking- for there will always be some people who will quickly connect to your solution... the early adopters are God-sent- to embrace your idea and lift your spirits on the way to living your entrepreneurial purpose

6. Keep all doors and windows open, those who said NO will soon come calling. Remember they are a little shy because they snubbed you... make it easy for them to get in touch

Well, there is this one--- between sleep and that job or is it work?

“Every morning, you have two choices, continue your sleep with dreams or wake up and chase your dreams. Choice is yours. The way I see it, if you do not build your dreams, someone else will hire you to build theirs. Fact is: a dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work. If you do not know what to do with your life, do something that saves lives. The world is full of people in ‘need’ be part of their life that fills that ‘need’. The only way to do great work is to love what you do and do what you love. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking, don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you will know when you find it. Lastly, remember the quote in Think and grow Rich by Napoleon Hill ‘All achievement, all earned riches, have their beginning in an idea.”
