I'll prove that even the sweetest kitties will catch and eat rodents -- just a God created them to do.
Cats Were Designed to Eat MeatWe have to face the fact that God made cats to eat meat – fresh meat. He designed them to catch their meat in the wild. Throughout history man has depended upon cats to help him keep the rodent population in check. My neighbor's cat, Pumpkin, was the sweetest cat you'd ever want to meet. This is her photo, below. She was a great help to me in keeping the rodent population down on our property. ...

There was a time when I wrote letters for hours at a time. Now I write blogs.
My niece—the only one I have—sent me a letter. Yes, a letter, with words written in black ink, packed tight on a card. Rarely will you receive letters like this, anymore. Or, at least, rarely have I. Emails are so much quicker. Quicker even is texting. Conveyed instantly. And usually erased just as instantaneously. ...

For all you wine lovers out there.
Although I live in California wine country in Templeton, I never was quite able to make a date with the bottling truck. My closest neighbor knew I was interested in seeing it, but after he called a week ahead of time to tell me when it would arrive at his winery, I forgot by the time the date came. On another occasion, while visiting another winery in Paso Robles, I found that the bottling truck would come the next day. When I went to see it, the...

I think I found a kindred spirit here.
Many of you may know I love to read. I have shelves full of books at home and I’ve only read about half of them. This sounds bad that I haven’t read them all, but to me, it’s exciting because it means I have so many more adventures to go on, page by page, chapter by chapter, and book by book. And in my defense, I love to buy books, so it seems that for each book I read, I’ve bought at least another in that time period. ...

It's always fun to find a new photographer I like.
In a couple of weeks, by the end of September 2016, my so far longest public exhibition will close, just to be replaced by new one. In fact, the exhibition is not only mine but it's a joint project with my good friend Siniša Almaši, rated as a Top Landscape Photographer of the Year 2014 at pixoto.com site. He actually gets peer recognition wherever he post his images. No wonder! ...

Do you can your own food?
A huge lesson I learned last year when I bought carrots for .25 a pound is that I needed to pressure can them, not at all like me making jelly and pickled veggies, they had to be pressure canned to kill bacteria that could form and give me food poisoning so I ended up freezing them and the texture is not at all what I like nor is the flavor. ...

Discovered another photographer of wildlife.
There are always times when as a photographer you can always remember when you snapped a photo. This fox image was one of them. The winter of 2014 was a long, harsh one in Nova Scotia and by the time March of 2015 had arrived, there was 6 feet of snow in the yard in places. One morning I looked out and there was this fox in the yard...it was so hungry and so desperate for food it had crept into our yard and was eating the sunflower seeds I had ...

You've gotta love alcapas!
I first became personally acquainted with alpacas when a small alpaca farm started a few miles from my home in Templeton. I drove past it at least once a week. When I had time, I stopped to photograph these appealing animals. In the header photo you can see they often stayed close to the back fence of their enclosure. Sometimes, though, they wandered toward the fence by the road. ...

Great photo of spider having a meal.
Apparently in the morning, and throughout the afternoon and all into the Evening? Not sure when this gal started her feast, but I'm enjoying documenting her progress. This image is from among the first set that I created today simply by stepping out in my backyard area. This spider has been hanging out for a couple week now. She's outside and out of my way so why bother her. Last week I caught her munching down on something smaller. Today, not sur...

Story

Live simply, capturing nature with words and camera.
Introduction

I have lived in and loved California my entire life and now reside on its beautiful Central Coast. The longer I live in San Luis Obispo’s North County, the more contented I become here. Most of my waking hours when I'm  not occupied with chores,  you will find me blogging, reading, walking around with my camera in hand, tending my garden, or dabbling in the local art scene. I hate shopping, and do it only if we will starve if I don't.

Bragging rights
I've been married to the same man for over fifty years and we have loved and been bereaved of two adopted children.
