Is this the earliest brewing contest in North Carolina? In 1824, the Mecklenburg Agricultural Society offered "Five Dollas in money, to the member who shall produce before the society, at their annual meeting, the best 10 gallons of malt Beer." #ncbeer

From the Catawba Journal, November 16, 1824: http://library.digitalnc.org/cdm/compoundobject/collection/newspapers/id/36825/rec/1

Remember the bookmobile? We found this great photo from Madison County, N.C., ca. 1960s, in a scrapbook from the Madison County Public Library that we just digitized. View the whole scrapbook online at http://library.digitalnc.org/cdm/ref/collection/ncmemory/id/108389

We've loaded a bunch of community college yearbooks to DigitalNC recently. These are among the most interesting we've worked on, with great photos of students at work on projects ranging from auto repair to horse-shoeing to cosmetology.

This is one of my favorite photos on DigitalNC. It's from the great collection of Charles Killebrew photos from the Braswell Memorial Library in Rocky Mount: http://goo.gl/JxclC.
