Pick your poison: Pull-ups or chin-ups? Notoriously two of the hardest body-weight exercises out there, both work slightly different areas of the upper back, shoulders and biceps. Talk to a trainer and develop a routine that incorporates both of these killer varieties. Which do you prefer?

#health and #fitness tip for vacationing:
Drive past the drive-thru. On a road trip, plan where and when you’ll be stopping for meals before hitting the road. It’ll give you more flexibility when choosing a healthier restaurant—or figuring out the best options. And of course, pack your own healthy snacks! (See a theme here?)

#fitness #goals to consider: Get onto a Healthy Nutrition Plan
Picking out an effective nutrition plan depends on what your fitness/health goals are. Most people would agree upon more fruits and veggies in your diet, along with a healthy mix of proteins and complex carbs. Moderation is key!

#health and #fitness tip for traveling:
After a long trip, your muscles tend to be tighter than ever. When you get to your gate, ward off lower-back soreness with a forward fold: Bend at the hips and fall forward, hugging your knees and rocking side to side. And once you're at your destination, help your body and mind reset with two yoga poses: downward dog and child's pose.

Avocados contain healthy monounsaturated fats that can help lower cholesterol levels when eaten instead of harmful saturated fats. For a heart-healthy boost, replace butter with avocado on your favorite sandwich.
Did you know? Babies love avocados. Their soft, creamy texture makes them easy to eat, and their high fat content helps with normal infant growth and development.

Quick and healthy recipe idea: ready in 12 minutes or less
Souper Spicy Soup. In a medium saucepan, combine ¾ cup vegetable broth, a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes, and ½ tbsp. olive oil. When it reaches a boil, stir in 1/8 cup uncooked couscous, ¼ cup broccoli, and ¼ cup cauliflower (both chopped into small florets). Cook until tender. Optional: Serve topped with 1 oil-packed sun-dried tomato (chopped) and 1 scallion (thinly sliced).

Staffers at the fitness center itself are friendly and knowledgeable, but corporate customer relations sucks. If you ever have an issue that needs to be escalated above the location level, good luck. Their "so-what, if you don't like it, quit" attitude cost them this customer, not that they care.

Robert, we are so sorry to hear about your negative experience with Gold's Gym. I hope we can regain your trust and loyalty once again in the future.

I visited this gym while traveling for business and all I can say is disappointing. Equipment is older, the dumb bells are in poor condition, the weights are loose on their handles. Apparently there is only one pair of 60lb dumb bells and it is missing. Only one water fountain for the entire facility.
Response from the owner - 3 weeks ago
Cory, we apologize for your poor experience at our gym. We value your opinions and feedback to help us improve and make things better. Thank you.

Was a member at Gold's for what was almost two years. 3 months ago I got randomly charged $120. I disputed the charge because they couldn't tell me what it was for and got my money back. For that reason I left. I went ot the gym a week before my next billing cycle. Listen to this....they gave me a piece of paper, told me to go buy some GD stamps from the post office and mail it. "It takes about a week so you might be billed another month." My jaw hit the floor. I've never seen a bigger scam in my life. You have to mail something yourself to QUIT THE GD GYM! So I just got billed AGAIN after having wanted to quit a WEEK AGO! I'll be disputing this charge as well, and I promise I'll be getting it back. Do not join this gym. DO NOT JOIN. If you're already a member please keep an eye on your bank account. They sneak money out of there in more ways than one.

I moved here from California a couple years ago. I started my journey in fitness in the old Gold's Gyms around SoCal. So, when I moved to my new apartment, my first choice was Gold's, simply because I respect the brand -- and this place isn't exactly "around the corner." I'm not going to rant. It's just SUPREMELY disappointing when you find out after getting there that they don't honor the seven-day FREE pass from the Gold's Gym website. Apparently, regardless of the pass, it's still $15/day, but they credit that to your monthly dues (if you sign up). So, if you want to even test-drive the place, they get your money one way or another. I really don't prefer 24hr or LA fitness, so I'll probably try ANOTHER Gold's down the road.

I've been a member of this gym for several years and have enjoyed it. The staff there is friendly and always willing to assist me if I need it. They have plenty of cardio and weight machines, and other equipment needed for any type of work out you want. I also work w/a personal trainer a couple times a week. Trey is very motivating, but not yell in your face type of person. I never get bored as he never has the same routine when I come in. Always switching it up so I keep progressing.

This is fake and poor gym. I never signed for contract, just singed for membership. These guys made a contract with fake initials and created as contract documents. I told and explained about my cancellation. After the contract term also they are charging to my credit card. * FAKE *** FAKE *** FAKE**

Bea, we are sorry to hear about the lack of comfort you felt at our gym. Members rushing you off equipment is unacceptable. Next time this happens, please let a staff member know. Thank you for your feedback!

This is a very fake and poor gym. After paying over $1600 for personal trainer, he quite for a better opportunity somewhere else and I have a $700 balance left and "there is nothing they can do about it". They say it's "like a restaurant, the waiters quit all the time" those were their exact words. Please save yourselves some trouble and do not go to this gym!!!
