Edible Idaho South provides the southern region of Idaho with a new way to explore and appreciate our vibrant food shed and diverse culinary cultures.
Edible Idaho South will profile the local farmers, fishermen, chefs, vintners, food artisans, retailers and others who help produce, prepare and deliver this area’s distinct bounty of food and drink. The magazine will especially highlight people who work to go about their business in sustainable ways.
Each season, the magazine will be brimming with vivid photography, engaging stories, mouth-watering recipes and helpful guides for finding and preparing our local food. What’s more, our website features an extensive calendar of food-related events and classes across our region, as well as other special features.
The magazine will be available free from numerous select locations and by subscription via the website.
Claudia Sánchez Mahedy, is the owner and publisher of Edible Idaho South. She is a culinary instructor and food writer with a culinary degree from the Institute of Culinary Education in NYC. Until recently, she contributed a monthly column for The City Paper, an English language newspaper based in Bogotá, Colombia.
Guy Hand is Edible Idaho South’s Managing Editor. He has also written about food and agriculture for publications like the L.A. Times, Sierra, Audubon and other publication. He was the Idaho Statesman’s restaurant critic for three years, wrote weekly articles under the heading “Year of Idaho Food” for the Boise Weekly and produced the award-winning, six-year-running public radio show “Edible Idaho.”
