UPDATE: 5-7-12 We had not been back to the People's Kitchen in a few months. This weekend we went back. The food and menu have changed. The once great food has been replaced by sandwiches. This has become a hamburger and sandwich place that serves wine and unique beers. I personally do not think that is a bad thing. But TGIF or any other franchise food joint does this same thing. The food for a sandwich place was average but over priced. The mac and cheese I wrote in my review in the past has gone way way way down hill. It was over cooked and bland tasting. I have a feeling the owners needed to change to make extra money. Every business is in it to make money. Just sad to see the great food had to suffer. I will no longer recommend this place or visit it again. To bad a great restaurant had to change. Past review 10/27/2010 Went here with a couple friends because they heard good things about this restaurant. The place was empty when we got there, which is a good thing because we get to sit where ever we want. The People's Kitchen has a nice relaxing atmosphere, with tables arranged to feed the feeling of privacy. The menu is small. Unlike most small menus one gets the feeling of limited choices. This menu had many dishes we wanted to try that the size did not matter we liked the choices that were given to us. We heard about an onion appetizer that was great but they no longer make it :(. The beer selection are not your typical bud, bud lite, corona, etc. which I am glad about. I was able to have a dark larger that was wonderful. I ordered the mac and cheese as the appetizer and pork chops for main meal. The bread served during the meal was nothing special but not bad. The mac and cheese was creamy and very good, leaving you with thought of taking a huge bucket of it home for later. The pork chops where cooked perfectly and the sides that came with the dish worked really well with the chops. The way the food was prepared displays the chief really understood how flavors work together to improve your dining experience. To many times a chief has been taught this food goes with this or maybe this sounds good with this so let's put them together. From the two dishes I had I have to say the chief understood the science of good food. The server during the whole meal was pleasant and able to answer all of our questions. He added to the overall experience of the People's Kitchen. I will be going back and will recommend this to others I really look forward to the other items on the menu. P.S. The other three people with me all loved there food and will be going back. The food was price reasonable and you felt you got your money's worth.

This place is the perfect place to go if you are into fancy with out the snobby and organic/local food. I have never once had a dish here I didnt like taste wise and quality wise. This place has its stuff down and highly recommend it.
